This poem is well and honestly written, strong.. Thank you for sharing.

I do find the expression 'What a glorious time' cheek to jowl 'with two enormous blasts' very hard to appreciate. It's the idea of 'glory' in such vicious circumstances. But you are truthful and I wasn't there. The war was long and crushing and full of fear. I'm sure that was how victory truly felt - 'glorious', under any circumstances.

But the bombing of Japan was also a terrible 'human' event that still sends shock waves worldwide. And raised a terrible new kind of 'war' that threatens human annihilation.

The deeds of that great conflict must never be forgotten or, worse,
taken for granted. So much cost! Now, in late May 2020, we recall
the miracle of Dunkirk in this same month eighty years ago. For
without it, the German juggernaut would have felt emboldened to
rush headlong across the Channel and lay siege to Blighty...with
every confidence in success and the start of the downfall of freedom
throughout the world.

Stimulating reminders of how reality created what are patronisingly
termed cliches.
"Act in haste, repent at leisure" is one that comes to my own mind in
this age of social media sniping and griping. As for myself, I'm
still trying to make sense in my life of "Penny wise, pound foolish". ?

JC - I've never owned a dog myself but members of the family have
and it is a matter of common courtesy to others to possess the
means to clean up the dog's mess - especially in an urban environment. I've taken "family" dogs for walks and it is a matter
of seconds to wipe away the goo using a plastic bag over the hand.
Fastidiousness and disregard for the environment have no place in a dog owner's mindset !?

If the mobiles could be vending machines
Lovers could have found solace in between
A penny or two saved each day for a meet
Hopes could become dreams come true

Hilarious but wishful write! Loved the idea.

definitely one that needs some rework - but there's the basis of a blues guitar track here I think - so may come back to it with more time and take off some of the edges (but leave the ending)

Thanks also Poemgraphic for your thoughts. Yeah, there is a element of time travel (aka back to the future) in this piece in a way. I hadn't looked at it like that, so thanks for that.
