Thanks for the comment on H&M Don! From what the gossip mags say Episode 3 won't be far off! I suppose one could admire them for saying they want to be financially independent, even if I gather it is Prince Charles who is coughing up large sums to keep up their lifestyle. It just seems a pity about the family bust up, and I would think he might be a little lost in Hollywood after the novelty value has worn off. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Cracking lyric, MC. I assumed the 3rd “verse” would be the middle bridge (different form and all that). Audio is a must.

one ballroom blitz of a poem Ian! I forget the lead singers name now but I would not wish the terrible way he suffered from alcoholism on my worst enemy.
In the meantime-ROCK ON BIG GUY!

By and large, MC, our teachers were a benign bunch. As I said, they’d mostly only clock you for misbehaving or being stupid. And the maxim that you always remember your best teachers certainly holds true foe me.

Certainly worth reading - for the reminders of when schooldays weren't always the best days of your life. At my own fondly
remembered Wiltshire school, we were taught English (after a
fashion...it was more like a meeting/chat) by a teacher who was a
member of a prominent rugby team from just across the border in
Somerset. Thankfully, he had none of the sadistic tendencies
mentioned in this blog - perhaps because his level of the sport
was professional and more demanding. And he was also fond of the sister of one of our classmates...so they said!!

The reality is that disease has always been with us. It varies down
the centuries, according to circumstance but like nature in general
(including humanity), it will continue to evolve and we have to adapt
accordingly to keep up - hopefully, inventing the means to combat and eradicate the threat.

A worthy plea to persuade us to give considered thought to that which is perceived to be a nuisance/pest in nature. There may well
be a reason for its existence that's beyond our ken, as they say north
of the border here in the UK.

Yes, I'm intrigued by this, too, Isobel. I've long thought there was room for a football fan-type approach to poetry. Years ago Monty Python drew up a football team of philosophers - why not one of poets? (There would have to be a women's team too, of course). My first choice up front as target man/striker would be Attila the Stockbroker (he's a big Brighton fan). And Tony Walsh (Longfella) at the heart of the back four, perhaps?

I've missed not creating anything! I've kept my sister's name off the poem as she's fiercely private. I'm glad Jane pulled through though or she wouldn't have written the book that saved my sister's life. Conventional medics had written her off as incurable...
Much love to all - there's always hope out there. x

As an adjunct to this I emailed the nurse that took a special interest in my recent care whilst experiencing my 'heart event' in hospital and thanked her once again in light of the work that she must now been involved in with this pandemic. Her touching reply, about being mentally and physically knackered was timed at 2.28am! Says it all.

Nice poem, but I disagree. I don´t feel like poetry prevents you from taking a step or setiing new resolutions. For me it really has been rather helpful with that :.).
But I really felt what you said about it bringing back forgotten memories.

That's an unusual piece for you John - but I wouldn't mind betting it helped scratch an itch that you've had for a long time.
Revenge is sweet and we all look back to school days and wish we'd acted differently in certain situations.
I'm glad you managed to put the boot in. 2 of my favourite films are Gladiator and Die Hard - does that say something about me? ?
