There's no numbering to love. Love is love, true love waits and never lets go. Hold on and pray.
Sad write. You expressed yourself wonderfully.

You cant beg for love. A person who loves you will give love undemanded, will be there all the time, will never be the cause of your pain and brokenness. Its his loss not yours. Heal and forgive.
Well expressed!

Great! Being a poet is not about adulation or ego-stroking. Most important is telling your stories and getting them out of your head. If they connect, they connect.

In Egypt's land the heat can often play cruel tricks on the mind. A fool often play the wise man or a prophet and wise man plays a knave. Its all a mirage.
A thought provoking poem.

Well - I am delighted to say that I've written a poem for this, which is great for me cos I don't write much nowadays.
It's hard not to have been affected by what we're all living through though and I do like the idea of a competition that benefits a good cause and isn't built on the back of ripping most contributors off.
I'm going to give myself one more day to edit it before i take the challenge of trying to donate...

Very kind Ghazala..I'm not politically motivated but like to poke about for the unusual in life. I try not to be partisan. I value your comments.
I thought there was.more to it than that but thanks John .sadly my knowledge of history was interrupted by inattention. Talented man though.

Thanks for your comments. I'm glad to be part of WOL, to share some poems i like.
I also send a poem a week, some fairly good, some not so hot, to a group of people who asked for them. I just send them as the computer arranged them by alphabet. If anyone wants to be on that list, email >davidffreeman1925@gmail.com<. They usually aren't great poems, but people say they like them.

Really pleased you liked it.
I agree Greg - very difficult to stand aside in a culture war - I have had recent hosting experience of stepping in and upsetting a poet who was using some rather uncultured racial references - not easy to do - but necessary.
It has always been a pleasure when our paths cross Cynthia - as you say age and health can be restrictive - and this bloody 'plague' is not helping anyone - but we will all be back on the other side and the social intercourse will be resumed - stay safe

Hi David, I've been thoroughly enjoying reading all your work - I'm so pleased you've joined WoL. I've followed your Google Drive archive and see I have a well catalogued treasure trove to start working my way though! This will keep me going for quite a while... Thanks for sharing and all the best. Tom.

Thank you Cynthia for your advice. I agree with you entirely that one should endeavour to spell words correctly. My aged fingers struggle to hit right keys in the right sequence on a tiny telephone keyboard at times. Not a good excuse I agree.
Grammar can sometimes detract from the flow of the sentence and a little poetic licence doesn't necessarily ruin the expression of the desired thought.

Kipling is most specifically decried as racist for Gunga Din. The poem actually debunks the myth of white supremacy and is in fact the very opposite - an homage to his regimental bhisti,
“You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din”.

Sorry, John, I failed to spot the line-breaks in this one. Experimental? I agree with you though, that the behaviour of Genghis Khan and Attila the Hun - and indeed, Hitler - was not politically correct, what ever that loaded term means, or ever meant.
