Part 1: The one from where everything starts. The curiosity, strong urge to look into the other world, to find happiness, a journey to love yourself...The journey to the unknown yet desirable destination...

Part 2: The one where you step into a new world of temptations and addiction, which try to lure your innocent soul into a devilish trap. The journey to choose the right path, while struggling to know your desired destination...

Bolton is truly the hub of popular poetry in the North West. It is an example we can all learn from.

Welcome to WOL Jacie,
Reading your profile I completely agree with the idea of using poetry instead of a diary. I do the same albeit for different reasons perhaps. Look forward to reading your work.

Bang on the money. All aggressive warfare should be considered
a crime and held to account. This invasion is intended to obtain
expansion of this Russian government's influence and control.
It has nothing to do with any "threat" from NATO or "The West".
Indeed, the brazen manner in which it has proceeded indicates that no such threat is considered likely, not least the bumptious
boast of putting nuclear arms on "high alert" as an added
bully-boy tactic, clearly mocking in its "do you dare respond in
kind?" challenge..

This has pleased me so much. A beacon in the darkness.
My own involvement in poetry was very much thanks to Dave who, in a phone conversation, persuaded me to attend John Jelly's little group:
'Bring your poems', Dave said.
'I don't write poetry', I replied.
'Course you do. Everybody writes poetry', he insisted.
So, I took my poems that no one had ever known I had written, read them out to the little group, and got applause (as, I should add, did everyone). Whether it was politeness or encouragement mattered not. I was expressing myself in my own words to people who listened and offered their appreciation.
Having previously worked in various community education settings, Dave and I understood its potential to offer such opportunities more widely. I should add that I acquired some of my most useful such understandings as a result of Dave's influence and mentorship, too, both professionally and as a friend.
So, I blame Dave. God bless him (other deities are available).

The BBC was a trusted radio source for many in occupied countries in the second world war. And now it is making available more shortwave radio frequencies for Ukraine, to repeat the vital service it provided back then. But don't worry, Julie, our trusted government - you remember, the one awash with donations from Russians - wants to cut the BBC down to size.

I wrote this poem several years back, about an event that happened almost 40 years ago ... the Argentinian invasion of the Falklands. Ownership of Chelsea football club changed hands on the same day back then ... for ยฃ1. The purchaser was a Mr Ken Bates. By an odd coincidence of war and football the same thing is happening again now ... although this time the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, who bought Chelsea from Bates in 2003 for ยฃ140m, wants several billions to sell the club, it is said.

A fascinating poem, John. One of the reasons why Waiting for Godot is (arguably) the 20the century's greatest play is because we can all imagine ourselves to be in it. Estragon would have suited me, I think.

The EU's total countries comprise of a considerably greater land
mass and absorbent capability for large numbers of people than
these islands which - in hectares - France alone exceeds by

And it reminds me all too clearly of the time a "bad" buy from a
certain fast food chain saw me head home rather urgently
from my "local" after barely a pint, only to have to turn around rapidly and return to a thankfully vacant pub loo - just in time!!
I break into a cold sweat even now just thinking of how close I
came to literally s......g myself in public. Liquidity took on a
very non-banking meaning THAT evening!
