Hi Richard, Thanks for your comments, they really are very much appreciated.
I hadn't heard about the reps in Spain. We were a party of 8 women ranging between the ages of 30 and 55. Each time we went down the strip as it's called, young lads called reps insisted on literally man-handling and scooping us up off the floor in a bid to get us into bars where they got tips for doing it. I blame the tour companies myself. They really should be more responsible when training them up. It wasn't even high season. Everyone complained.
I meant to tell you last time i visited your profile. When i read "The poet and his muse." Just 2 nights before i had a dream very similar to what is written. I was washed up on shore and a man breathed life back into me. I felt it was significant . Though i don't remember him being a poet or writing a poem for me.xx

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for reading more of my poetry and for taking the time to leave a message. It gives my confidence a real boost when I get a positive response. I do not mind criticism though.
My Dad used to play there too. It is a wonderful place. Who would believe there is so much nature so close to Manchester? This Boggart is supposed to pinch our picnics according to the legend. Great place eh? I hope it brought back fond memories.
Shirley

I live in manchester when I'm uni and all of this is very true! The thing I hate the most is what they've done with OK cafe! It had a nice working man feel to it and now it looks like a tendy wine bar like everywhere else

Hi Richard, wow, gift of words, can say that again, nice one - love these lines -
You built an empire
immune from the fire
it is you that made the cement stick
Within it you built a home
to keep your family warm
and your grandchildren safe from the streets
A lot of it sounds like the last couple of years I've had, a lot of it down to me, but hopefully better now, cheers Jeff
PS Did you read my 'I Love the morning'? cheers

Great swathes of aubergine secrets and tangerine dreams. Oh i love that line, full of texture!
Wonderful imagery in this poem, even though it feels like a part of life has been scattered to the four winds. So full of texture.
Thankyou, Janet.x

Thanks so much for the concern here and in the earlier discussion. I will be recovered soon enough and am looking forward to eating solid food.
I was going to perform my poem - The Hood - which is ironic considering what happened to me.
Congratulations to Pete - I've never heard a bad poem from him and I'm glad to hear that he won, congratulations also to Tony and to Tom Croft who I believe I saw for the first time at the recent WOLl event at Stubbins Warfe

Hi Jeff,
I enjoyed reading your poetry. Interesting content and you have the skill for making it flow very well, in how it sounds to the ear and how you expand on your subjects. Thanks for the welcome on my page. I've realised there's quite a lot going on poetry-wise close to home and intend to get to some events soon.

Hi Richard.
There seems to be a few coincidences on here. I was undecided whether to put this poem on or my 'Stallion Of A Dream'. I went to check blogs after I uploaded and saw that Phil Golding has a great poem that he put on before me, with similarities to both of my poems, crisscross/dream/stallion etc. Antonionionis' '666' next to my 'Theatre Of Hell'. Now you tell me of your uncanny experience. Strange eh?
Thanks for reading my poem. I am so pleased.
Sincerely Shirley

the image of a goldfish trying to end it all was very nostalgic. an image of my uncle pacing the room (a strange habit) he looks at the floor "is this someone's goldfish?" they must get very confused considering they will forget why they are committing goldfish suicide!

I think that clash with the roundabout warped your sense of justice.
It's not easy you know, swimming round and round all day with sod all else to do. Staring at the same walls of silence as they come back round. It's enough to make anyone want to commit hari-kari, jump out and take a chance.
So happy to hear you're ok after yesterdays skid. Love Janet.xxx

It feels like someone has pounded the walk of life to attain their goal and make their mark.
Well on the way to success too.
Written so humbly in a style only someone with such charm and elegance as yourself could write it. Lovely. Janet.xx

Hi Richard, i'm sure by now you've realized i am a fan of your work. I can relate to this piece in several ways to parts of my own life.
I don't think the title does it justice though.
Hope you don't mind me stating my opinion here.
I feel this is a kind of eulogy, a tribute to a survivor of hard times. Someone very close to you as well.
As usual, i very much enjoyed reading your work. Janet.x

Hello, Richard
The poem is really nice. It actually shows what life would be to live in here for you. You brought all the visual pictures of an ‘Indian Burial Ground’ in your poem. Excellent imagination!!
Pleasure to read; thank you!
