Whilst I do take the point of both the writerโ€™s and KJโ€™s views, I am sorry to say that having recently returned from France via the Eurotunnel experience, I was appalled both ways at the behaviour of the British travelers of all ages.

Kevin,
Thank you for your comment. I wrote this as a result of what I saw yesterday. Like yourself we were brought up that manners maketh man, but what I witnessed yesterday was frankly appalling. The common courtesies have gone and have been replaced by vulgarity and arrogance.
Thanks again
Keith

I've taken issue with some of your previous postings, when you have criticized the manners of the younger generation. Apologies for that, manners are important.
This one kind of demonstrates my point. Manners isn't just about etiquette and saying please and thank you. It's about having the right attitude.
Some of these geriatrics sound horrendous.

Thank you for all the likes. A poem which clearly discloses one's sexual preference and holds a certain silence. This is life and the poem is one of those occurrences which we encounter in daily life. To relate them is to portray an aspect of our humanity so easily put aside. Poetry is and should be the voice of dissent, truth and with it the ability to provoke thought. Your likes give me confidence that you appreciate this. I value more than ever your support. Thank you
Keith

There is feeling of inner glow of peace doing what you have said of being above an evil act that one time someone has done.
In a way I must have forgiven to have felt this and in doing so
followed the strong message you sent inside your poem. โค

It's a point of view, Greg. I seem to remember someone saying that he sounded too English to be Welsh and too Welsh to be English. Perhaps that's why he liked America, where he could get up everything you describe.
A really interesting read, even if slightly tongue in cheek, I suspect!

I appreciate all of Stephen's poems, but I find the ones about Ukraine particularly moving.
Maybe we could start a thread on here just for Ukraine or anti-war poems.
John Coopey has also posted some powerful stuff.
If WOL brought out a anthology (proffits going to the cause) I'd buy it.

It is very kind of WOL to mention my series of Ukraine poems. This war has led to so much senseless death and destruction and has caused untold damage to Ukraine, whose people have nonetheless shown themselves to be brave and resilient.

I would also like to pay tribute to the many other contributors to WOL who have written fine, moving poems about Ukraine and this terrible war.

John,
This poem is heartfelt and born out of experience. It says more than is written. It speaks of demands made and targets to be reached, then of release and the fact that it is all over and done with. A poem of the age we live in. Stress and its adverse effects on all our lives.
Thank you for this
Keith
