Life has a habit of biting back, HélÚne. It is admirable that you can take this on the chin and write about it in such an intelligent and sensitive way. Hope everything turns out all right for you both.

Nice, do love a bit of poetry from the most unlikely of sources.
Rosuvastatin and allopurinol are my drugs of choice. Just a '2-a-Day' man me. My rattling a mere tapping, at least for now. đ

Brilliant as always, Holden. Your work isn't easy, it's enigmatic, and it takes several reads for me to really get the taste of it, and I love that.

Bravo JGE, I think there is a discussion topic in this issue of where do poems (inspiration) come from?
Upon further investigation it seems it already exists in another form

âPoliticsâ: from the Greek ÏολÎčÏÎčÎșÏÏ (politikos) from ÏολίÏÎ·Ï (polites, 'citizen').
Poetry is about people-citizens; thatâs to say, politics, in the broadest sense of the word.
Itâs about the way people observe and describe the world.
If we limit the definition of good/bad poetry to being about: âsubjects of which I/we personally approveâ, then poetryâs good for nothing at all.

It sounds a marvellous, inspiring evening, Greg. Decency is a proper British and European value, as Harry makes clear. I'm sure you are right - us screenies should get out more and experience this kind of stuff.

A pity you weren't there, MC - a chance to come out from behind the screen and witness a warm and rousing poetry event. It may not have been in your locality, but I often wonder how often the regular commenters on here actually go out to enjoy and understand the communality of poetry gatherings. Which, by the way, is what Write Out Loud is all about.

I have my own view of what constitutes love of country and it
includes keeping faith with those who fought for its freedom
and its right to self-determination. Poetry is a fine platform
for expressing opinions but its value is its variety and the right
to have different views of the most basic of subjects. Polititics
comes within its range- and rightly so for its own often less
appealing opportunistic reasons in today's world.

I managed to get out of the 1970's/80s without ever watching 'Crossroads'. Really don't know how.
Sure Mr Cohen would have trashed his lyrics for this if he'd got round to seeing the show.đ

I see, thanks for the tip although I usually access the net at my local library once or twice a week so I blog quite sporadically and don't get a great deal of comment perhaps because of that. I hope I'm not already repeating what may have been posted before on write out loud judging from the tags already here?
