This is my second poem about COVID-19, it emphasizes more on things that happened around the world when COVID-19 was at its peak

John,
With great eloquence and a quality of expression you take the reader to where he does not want to be. Many will need more than a thunderstorm to bring the awful reality of Gaza to their dull consciousness.
Thank you for this,
Keith

I agree with that John. This poem is basically a fantasy to be honest.

I think this is a subject that polarizes opinion, but Keith Uilleam Steve and Stephen you have all showed humanity and an awareness that never brings comfort or it seems a resolution.
It's particularly poignant that through no fault of their own the Homeless have slipped down the ladder of status, in which position they are basically an embarrassment to those who try maintain their own . It doesn't say a lot for our aims as a race when more care is lavished on pets (nothing wrong with that in itself , but stand back and analyze it) than on some human.
All your comments reflect a desire to learn and study this phenomena. Thank you Stephen G for your mention of that line, it came into my head!
Hugh, Stephen and Jon thanks for the likes.

My thanks to John, Stephen and Uilleam for the comments. You're right, Stephen; it's a shame it still has to be written.John and Uilleam - I yearn for peace everyday and desperately want to end the death and suffering. However, I'm coming to the conclusion that sadly (beacuse it will lead to thousands more fatalities) the only way to get to peace is for Ukraine to be well enough equipped to kick the invader out for good.
And thanks to Manish, K Lynn, Tom and Hugh for liking this.

If we still did Poem Of The Month here on WOL this would be it!
For all the bile and rhetoric of earlier efforts concerning the various worldly conflicts espoused here, the sheer brevity of this piece wipes them all away.
Bravo Stephen

Thank you all, reading Michael Rosenâs accusatory Johnson poem & seeing a YouTube clip of Stanley Johnson got me thinking⊠I watched some of Hancock at the enquiry yesterday & worthy as it is, it all feels hollow, with no real jeopardy for that cabal of self-serving, inhumane people. What happened & why should never be forgotten.

There is, of course, the thought, M.C., that those of a certain colonial mindset felt themselves so superior to people from other countries and of other cultures that they felt justified in stealing from them. We have thousands of examples in the British Museum, here in the UK.

There is, of course, the thought that like the wildlife in certain
parts of the world, ir sometimes takes a "detached view" to see
the dangers of loss and ruin before it's too late - and seek to
preserve what is at risk. Life has a strange sort of "swings and
roundabout" style about it, with stuff lost before it's understood
how important it is in the wider scheme of things. We have our
own examples here in the UK.

Thanks Ray, well said.
It's a crisis with ideological roots and a culture that values houses over homes. There are more empty properties than homeless people but while new builds are bought off-plan for investment and society values landlords more than tenants we'll remain in this mess.
Thanks for saying it out loud.
