Sorry to drag my heels folks. Col: Great comparison well spotted. He was a guest on the Johnnie Walker show on Radio 2 on Sunday. This is the third attempt at this poem; I thought this was the most direct and pertinent.
Suki, thanks, that's definitely good enough for me, and I did have!
Thank you Anya. We all need that support!

love it. Been working in Wigan since january, and am loving the honest integrity of the place. Cheered on the team as they beat City and won promotion. But equally, like you, shocked at the spread of poverty and homelessness. i read Road to Wigan Pier and Orwell had similar experiences of poverty and community, but said "at least there are no people living on the streets". Not everything has got better in the last 85 years! M

You know what Hazel, my older brother is just ticking off the days. He doesn't do much despite various invitations to join in with things. On the other hand my younger brother and I together with a group of friends are filling up our days with tennis, bowls, snooker, pub walks, cycling. It's only stuff but it helps make life liveable. Like your poem.

Hi there. It's really interesting article, i'm glad to read it. Especially i like this part: "The book marks the beginning of a collaboration between Leeds Trinity University and Indigo Dreams, which earlier this year won the Ted Slade award for services to poetry. " It would be great if you share this information at https://pro-papers.com/poetry-writing-service. I'll be thanksfull.

this is a an intriguing character sketch, from keen observation of the human condition. One of the best poems I have read in a long time. Thank you indeed.

Superb poem Joe I really have an image of a trusty old piano. We used have one in our house that one of our children was supposed to learn to play but it never happened and it was used for a dumping ground for anything and everything.
Nice one

The only thing I can add to your lovely poem is that I was personally "in the wilderness" trying to find out what I wanted and who I was. Things were different after but I managed more of my potential by going there. I hope this makes sense and reflects your ideas to a point.
Thanks Rachel.
