Jon,
This brief poem reminds me of how I have often felt on a Retreat. The recipient of soulful grace in peaceful solitude. Reading this poem beckons me to such a place now.
Thank you for this
Keith

I do David thanks. On the 1 o'clock news there was a report of HMG considering allowing British citizens who travelled to fight for and support ISIS back into the UK. I am writing to my MP now to tell her exactly why this should never happen.

Ken, This excellent rendition is filled with an almost tangible melancholy as the focus shifts from past brutalities to the present day and the potential for worse to come. An impressive poem and one which I can resonate with as it embodies a certain reality about the human condition throughout history.
Thank you for this
Keith

Hi Keith, thank you for taking the time to read and comment, it really is appreciated. And in terms of style, it changes from one piece to the next and yeah I suppose you could call it semi-surreal as it is sometimes auto-writing but i do edit so it's not purely surreal.
A lot of the time, the subject dictates the style and poetry has been around so long now that I think its the role of modern writers to experiment as much as possible to try discover those rare hidden nuggets thst haven't been conveyed yet.
If there's any even left.
Thanks again.

Kaelan,
Your poetry intrigues me as you seem to use an impressionist or surrealist style. I am captivated by the language. How would you describe your work? It is highly charged and very attractive.
Thank you
Keith

"Who holds the power to belittle any other human being?"
Of course .. nobody has that power. Dearest Poetess Lysa .. your poem is touching humankind hearts .. that we're .. and should feel .. we're equal .. there's no doubt.

Ray,
My advice is to stay positive and allow the system to take care of you. With creeping alopecia, water retention, arthritic feet, varicose veins, in growing toe nails and bouts of giddiness I can assure you that the system is sympathetic and therapeutic.
Stay strong,
Keith

Thank you all for your comments and observations.
When I wrote this poem I was thinking of those who hold immense power and abuse that power. Trump, Putin, the lunatic in North Korea and many in the last century who reeked internation havoc and misery: Stalin, Hitler and other dictators of the 20th century. Their ultimate master is the Evil One - Satan, the great liar and manipulator. Martin, I must confess the Book of Revelation sits in the background as I was a student of Theology at Oxford. I therefore see the conflict between darkness and light as being played out within ourselves and throughout the world.
Thank you again for your interest.
Keith

Anyone in particular in mind when you wrote this one Keith?
I suppose it could refer to lots of people on lots of levels.
I wonder if the "master" has a master of his own. Or is he the big-boss.

Couldn't agree more! I write my stuff by hand, as I prefer it, but then have to put it on the computer as it is unreadable!
I like a real pen not a biro for the occasional letter or card too.

This is very sad. I really couldn't bear not to be able to read especially - I think I can remember (I was 4) when my Mum taught me to read, and I suddenly realised I could read whole sentences - not just C A T. A moment of intense joy. Black Beauty was the book - can anyone else remember that?

Unfortunately how true. Now I am ancient I wish that I could talk to the former generation and find out so many things about an earlier past.

A poignant connection with the ever-present feeling in youth that we
are somehow immortal, able in the prospect of a wealth of years to
ignore the passing of time and how ephemeral its content can be.
