Hi martin. Always good to get your feedback knowing that my stuff can appeal over time!
Thanks Steve. You must enjoy weird perhaps. that's me.
David, you look different today! All astute points thanks. Any dark place will do for me. I like the analogy of the Pharoahs, obviously on a more modest scale and either way impossible in actuality - but why let the facts ruin a good belief system? The jazz background was variations on French classical themes, hardly audible but it stopped half way through. Not really planned. Cheers..
Rachel, Hi. In the psychic canon there are the Akashic records, a sort of imprint in detail as you describe. Worth checking out while some sanity remains.
Thanks Hazel - glad you liked it and the afterthought!

Last line is perfect, ominous. I'm guessing the immediate pre-Thatcher period?

Thank you Dorothy! I keep playing with the last few stanzas. Sometimes a poem never feels finished, which is probably a good thing on the subject of mortality!

Haha Trev - I kept meaning to do one anyway ?
Yeh, I like the first one best too, but thought I'd be a smart-arse and cycle through the seasons, keeping in sight of the prompt ?
Also - I can't decide between this last line, or
'in bleak midwinter'
Whaddaya reckon?

Fate or chance at the root of things? But certainly not human volition. This argument has been with us as long as the plum trees. Well-penned Becky and well done. John

Vautaw. I'm an experimenter. I like people who try new things. I like the 'pause-absorb, then carry on' approach. Chanting' does just this. Separated in it's own line it makes you pause, absorb the 'chanting' idea before carrying on. Mixed up in a line with everything else it would get lost.
To me

I like this Mona. Good rhyming. You caught me out on 'cerebration' though. Thought it was meant to be 'celebration'. Guess relates to cerebral.
T'other night I had a dream
A visit from the Queen
I had to sweep the leaves away
From entrance, don't want seen
I must be extra special
For her to fly so far
My mind was cerebrating
Acting quite bizarre
When I awoke in morning
Relieved, when out of bed
On looking round discovered
All house flowers were dead ?

David,
Thank you for your insightful comments, I really appreciate them. Although the poem refers to coming back to writing poetry, I am afraid your view is still relevant!
You gave me too much credit for layout, I just made a mess of the cut and paste process.
Looking forward to continue exchanging with you.

Jeannot

"..it was really with him somewhere amongst the stars..."
They say time is really a figment of our imaginations--a feeble attempt at placing parameters through which we can wrestle some understanding of the universe. It's said that every moment that ever existed, or ever will, is captured within a frame like a photo, though we aren't prepared to perceive.
"We are stardust..."

meaning that this collage poem
