Complete with icing spread on the cake

Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia;
Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia,
Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia:
Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia.

The Son you merited to bear, alleluia,
Has risen as he said, alleluia.
Pray to God for us, alleluia)

I particularly like the repeated line that says 'I am addicted to your abuse.'
That seems to be a very telling line especially in the way it is used.

John,
I cannot tell you how many times I have said or sung the Angelus or the Regina Coeli as I pulled on the bell rope. Bells are everywhere but for some inexplicable reason they sound different in Rome and I often wonder why.
Thank you
Keith

This reads like a piece of your past here Stu. Not sure whether it is but it sounds very much like the sort of thing young lads would get up to during times of experimentation.

sculpted perfectly for my human ear.

thank you for the opportunity to read it.

Keith, Dorothy, Jennifer - thank you for your words of encouragement.
An allegory? - sure, as William S said,
"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players; ..."
But the 'show' began long long ago and oh how we need to ask, what strings do we dancing to?

Stu, that's a valid clip to throw in.
Anyone who advances in the field seems to work on the print side of poetry to some degree, but if the Oxford post retains some intrinsic value, and it may, the role belongs to a poet first. Todd should at least compare with, say, Alice Oswald on skill & theory. Looking over a few poems online: there's a gap.

I like these limericks. I've been wanting to try my hand at it and I think you've just convinced me. Would you mind if I made a suggestion? The final line of the first limerick doesn't scan (for me]; were it changed to, 'then called him a coward and callow' (or substitute 'a coward' for some other 3-syllable word with 2nd syllable stressed) it woulf flow more smoothly.

Hello folks, it's Caroline here
Don's my favourite boy
I hang out by his door in wait
Waiting for his "hoy?"
I'm in the door quick as a flash
"I'm at your service Don"
Please soothe my aching back Car
(No, this ain't a con)
They say Don's now on two legs
Can self him, shower and loo
It seems he still needs 'ttention
From me, to soothe and woo
I will be sad to see him go
An empty bed instead of
I guess they all get well in end
And then they all must head off
Dorothy, I hope I've
Told the nursie goal
Jonny next door's calling
Gotta fly, do role. ?
