Red Heifers
Their squalid death to purify,
on Olives Mount a bridge to God.
Then cedar wood and herbs burnt dry
to raise a Kingdom not forgot.
And in that ritualistic spell
the Kohen taints his cleansing soul,
that he is now unbound for hell
unless the cycle onward roll.
For future joy why all this death
where toil and dark abound?
Why not the warmth of living brea...

Devil
An avaricious devil is mankind;
He goes and grabs all things that he can find.
Perhaps he’s not aware that it’s unkind;
Faced with the danger, he says ‘never mind’.
Mankind intends to decimate this place,
To slash and burn and eat up every space,
With acquisition as some kind of race

Crucifixion
They say that the truth is a hard thing to take,

whilst stripped
Christmas wrapping paper
soaks up the deluge
like a homeless sleeping bag.
Dustbins overflow with leftovers
oiled with greasy greed.
A bottle of wine splatters against
the multi-storey car park wall,
vomited from the throat
of opulence at midnight.

THE END OF THE DREAM
As the sun peeps out
over misty morning hills
and the dawn chorus calls
with its piercing shrill,
the demons of the night
skulk slowly away,
a sidelong glance
at the few who got away.
He rises and stretches
and with sleepy eyes,
breathes a sigh of relief
and a laughing surprise.
The nightmare lingers
in his foggy mind
until a final shiver
leaves th...
