Jon - you can't leave it there or I won't be able to get through the day. How had she let people down? It must have been something very serious. Surely even Heaven has a discipline procedure that starts with, say, a verbal warning rather than going straight to the ultimate punishment?

I thought from the title this was going to be an apology from Royal Mail's CEO.
Otherwise it's a bit Kraken Wakes.

Hi David,
It is so hard to witness the grief of a loved one, knowing there's little or nothing you can do to relieve them.
Good to hear from you and hope you're keeping well--and you too, Colin.

If I might adopt one of many chuckle-worthy lines -

your genitalia,
It serves at best to apply to rest and interment inter alia!
Ho-ho.

The honest truth Brian, I didn't know the right spelling, but just went with the wrong one. Glad you liked the idea. Yes, a great area with lots of industrial history. I cycled from Bridgnorth to get to Wales and had a trip to the Blist Hill Ind. museum. Not a good day for it as it was pissing down, and not much activity. My brother and I used to use YHAs in the 70s too ! .
Thanks Hannah - glad you liked the humour.
Nice back story Col. If only Irn Bru did have that magic potential! Funnily enough I played for Ronnie Corbett's daughter's wedding, and that only lasted a few months. What exciting lives we lead.
Thanks Darren. I thought it was worth a try, but truth is he has that cut glass accent, perfect enunciation. I find it easier to do public school drawls.
Thanks all. Ray

Thanks Colin (and Darren) - I didn't want to make it too dramatic - although for me as a novice beekeeper, it was a little unsettling - but felt the late denouement would make readers think. It seems to be all fine down in the apiary now!

Colin you've set me a challenge
Your icon it says don't mess round
So come on don get into action
And give us what you may have found
Poor Brian he sits on the sidelines
To see what I'm able to bring forth
He mutters and mutters a big mmmmm
Does his utterance mean I'm of great worth ?
I will certainly look into Ab land rights
And look at our sharks for you too
But be careful what you say 'bout my mentor
Cos we both stick together like glue
?

but can you write poems that are not about, er, writing poems Don? Or mention Brian and the word 'rhyme'?
Perhaps we should set you a challenge or a prompt? I'll set the ball rolling. As you're an Aussie maybe you could put into rhyme your thoughts on the current situation Down Under regards Aboriginal land rights? Or shark attacks? You choose ?

Yes you are correct my friend
I wunder where you are ?
No doubt you're wondering round the site
Miles and miles afar
I did notice the lower-case 'e'
A subperior form used by your Queen ?
I must admit it must be rare
This form I've never seen ?
But then again I could accept
A typo error here ?
I think you must remember not
To type while drinking beer
?
