SALTY TALES

Pru,Pru, dearest Pru

since we went to Ironbridge

you've taken a shine to Ironbru.

Now you have a spring in your step

i'm beginning to feel like Johnny Depp

with heavy makeup and a yard of ale

sharing a stoveside bawdy tale.

I'm in with a chance again I reckon

while we potter along the Mon. and Brecon

The honest truth Brian, I didn't know the right spelling, but just went with the wrong one. Glad you liked the idea. Yes, a great area with lots of industrial history. I cycled from Bridgnorth to get to Wales and had a trip to the Blist Hill Ind. museum. Not a good day for it as it was pissing down, and not much activity. My brother and I used to use YHAs in the 70s too ! .

Thanks Hannah - glad you liked the humour.

Nice back story Col. If only Irn Bru did have that magic potential! Funnily enough I played for Ronnie Corbett's daughter's wedding, and that only lasted a few months. What exciting lives we lead.

Thanks Darren. I thought it was worth a try, but truth is he has that cut glass accent, perfect enunciation. I find it easier to do public school drawls.

Thanks all. Ray

Great - For me this worked better when I heard it, rather then when I read it.

I met Timothy West once - at my cousin's wedding. He was something to do with the Oxbridge college my cousin studied at. When I say I met him I didn't actually meet him. I just kinda stared at him every now and then. We all did. Didn't see Pru or any Irn Bru either. I seem to remember it was quite a dull affair and the marriage didn't last. TW's presence obviously hadn't provided enough special magic to make it last. Is Irn Bru a remedy for dementia . . ?

Ray - You'll get the Scots revolting...as if they're not already revolting enough. (Only joking guys!) It's Irn Bru...or did you deliberately misspell it to fit with Ironbridge? I love that rhyme by the way.

I love Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale. I first went there in the late 70's and stayed at the YHA in a road called Paradise which I thought was great.
