I agree with Dorothy, lovely work Jason. I can't help but think of me, myself and I. I think we all have a shadow and a soul.

As poets we can only 'poeticize' on what concern us. We are just voices in the wilderness. Change can only take place with a mass movement and strong leader. Without this the world's priorities will remain screwed up as Jon says. You may think otherwise.
As Kate says the juxtaxposition is powerfully used Keith

Dorothy and Jason don't ya worry
I'm screwed up as hell (MC knows)
My gramma and spelling's atroshus
While Mae's thinking golly what goes?
Lisa is trying to get used to
Me returning from my holidays
So Dorothy and Jason don't you worry
I'll join you miss-spelling each day ?

Common sense seems foreign.
To many folk today
They jump in feet first, what the heck
What the heck they say
I'm gonna have a good time
Just couldn't care a less
You say I'm suicidal?
My life is in a mess?
Well stuff it gonna 'joy myself
No matter what you say
Hello? Who's that that's fallen dead?
What more, what can I say ?

Very enjoyable poem.
What immediately strikes me is how financially better off we would be without women.
No joint accounts
Microwave meals
One car
One wardrobe
Clothing only replaced every few years
Holiday for one (no cocktails)
Action movies only (no soaps)
No implants, facelifts, beauty salons
No flowers
No Valentines Day presents
No birthday or christmas presents, etc, etc, etc

Hello NPaub Lis. Forgive me but I was so captivated by this that I found myself wanting to suggest a tiny alteration - only if you agree of course. Substitute "it remains balanced" for "you remain balanced", and again " you slip quietly away" instead of "it slips quietly away". For me that would make the moon more personal.
All the best Ray

Dorothy - we all have things in life to adjust to - not always easy.
If with arthritic hands I sought to carve images I wished others to
enjoy and admire, I would use that limitation in nature to do the
best I can. Should I make public the restrictive use allocated by
nature or get on and strive to overcome it by making the best of
whatever aid is available? Churchill may well have suffered more
than bouts of "depression" which he referred to as "the black dog",
but he was flexible and adroit enough to use dictation, secretaries
et al to get his work down on paper (as was then) and ready for
print so that what he meant (eg no misunderstanding) was in no doubt.
Keep at it!

Just as long as one doesn't lose sight of when to recognise the right
time and place for our actions - or lack of them...and be prepared to
live with both. That way we may not be too judgemental but still
retain the moral right to point out the wrong of something when we
see it.

Don and Jon,
You are both right. As poets we fight against apathy. As long as we cruise along with ineffective governments and make do decisions the likes of the man in the box will remain there. The inertia and infantile behaviour of present day politics lies at the door of the electorate. I am heartily sick of complaining and then see that fellow complainers do nothing but retire to their comfort zones. Is a two party state really representative of true democracy?
Thank you for your interest.
Keith
