Poet's Notes:
I wrote of a man with his head in his hands and later we see the man is me - the abstract metaphor of being sat three seats behind suggests a disconnect and a struggle to keep up (with life) hence being sat with head in hands.

Thanks Tom and Po. I appreciate you stopping by and leaving feedback. It helps me improve my writing to know what readers respond to. I agree Po, music adds depth to poetry. The two are so intertwined. Iris is one of my favorite songs. I first heard it on City of Angels. Excellent movie with one of the best soundtracks.

Ahead of you by a year, I have much in common with you in what you
declare. Whatever we do or allow never seems to be enough - as if
the rest of the world sees this island nation as some sort of convenience store that should supply everything to satisfy endless
demands and expectations.

A "natural" in terms of observation! This reminds me of an incident
during a long distance walk in Scotland when moving along quietly through an area of woodland. One of our small group motioned for
us to remain silent and nodded to the side where, curled up in the
foliage, was a baby deer. Making no sign or sound that might
disturb it and perhaps cause it to panic and become lost to its
parent , we passed on, marvelling at the unexpected sight presented
to us.

I do indeed remember "Spot the Ball", Po. It was always somewhere unlikely. I also remember the adverts for Horace Batchelor on Radio Luxembourg, "spelled K-E-Y-N-S-H-A-M".

I echo Brian's comment. You have the spark to set on fire the words and tones of a poetic liar. "The poet is a liar who always speaks the truth.” Jean Cocteau. So, not an insult, all real poets are liars.

Thank you very much Cynthia ? it means no less.
As for the picture, that makes me laugh. Originally I'd uploaded a very clear image of my face, and as my published pieces became what they were, it felt wrong to have myself so clearly visible. Barely dedicating energy to it, I scribbled over it with random colours and effects until I felt you couldn't tell what I looked like any more.
The colours don't go together at all and it is one of the most imperfect images I could possibly upload. It ended up staying up because I hated it so much and felt it could help me in letting go of my habit of caring too much about how others perceived me.

It was one of my get-rich-quick schemes, Po, to start manufacturing rattles again. There are 2 generations who have missed the audible texture they used to give at matches. And while I’m at it, I should patent the reintroduction of shirts and ties for fans, missing teeth, the half-time marching band and Daily Express song sheets. Wanna come in on it with me?
