I'm sure that if you haven't already got your MBE it's an oversight and you'll be on the honours list for the new year.
Your actions towards these old codgers were totally justified, and nobody in their right mind would blame you.
But just remember John, you will be old yourself one day. I know it's hard to imagine right now, as it's such a long way off.

Thank you for your comment Stephen. I hope you'll never wish to give up before the end, I hope I'll never wish to too. Who knows, as you say, but don't we poets make bread out of certainties and butter out of uncertainties?

Sad but true. You see them strutting around the shops not wearing a mask. Literally strutting, as if it somehow makes them clever. My blood boils.
Good to see your serious side, but I do like to hear some good old fashioned Cooley filth too.
Cheers Kevin

I prefer "specialist" to "expert" as it seems that the latter is not
always compatible with practical experience.
Expert = a person whose view is personally held but will often contradict that of another expert. ?

I totally agree with you.
There are people who wish to rule you. Fear, guilt, threats, drama....they would do anything to keep u in their bondage. They have sinister, plans and moves.
But trust me. Just no reply and ignoring such people for a while, is the best reply.
They know what they do. Cuz this is how they have been dealing most of their relationships, so they are bloody experts.
No revenge. But leave them. They will go crazy mad and will try to harm you, scare you. But always remember NONE HAVE THE POWER TO CAUSE YOU ANY HARM.
This is what I told myself. Packed those relationships gifted it back to them. Smiled and got busy with work.??

I admit I am late in responding, but life is always made of so many things, its often hard to come back to everything all at once.
I hope to connect and communicate with your group.
I am from India and unlike all of you maybe from a developing nation, trying to do what I love doing.
Looking forward to today's session.?

I think that's a really good point and you're right, it wouldn't be a successful business model to open, "Deep connections Ltd," but that's the unique beauty of what we do. We, amongst very few others, share our deepest thoughts first, before any small talk, any getting to know each other and it got me thinking, A) How wonderful and powerful writing is, and B) What would it be like if we did all meet up, you know, like an annual poetry convention, and genuinely, I don't know. We might be some of those rare people who know each other at a deep level before we've ever even stood face to face. Just a thought. ❤❤

Really vividly presented, and fantastic description of winter snow. 'The stark silhouette of a winter's eve, a relentless flurry, swirling majesty, gripped by the hand of winter's gloom, a brittle celluloid of black and white. Brilliant, and for what my opinion may be worth, one of your very best! Can't think why it didn't receive many more comments. jennifer

Those of us who are old enough will recall the tragedy of the Aids epidemic that swept continents. Its control was not helped by the
self-obsessed me-first behaviour of the criminally careless whose
uncontrolled sexual licentiousness did much to spread it. Nature
will always bite back at human abuse and carelessness.

Much that is topical to ponder here. Certainly, information is the new currency in many lives - and those that control it (and influence its content!) wield great power. No wonder the Australian government
feels it necessary to face up to Facebook. Personally, I have little
time for the stuff that exists on a site like that but I'm ready to admit
that it appeals to certain mindsets. But the risk is that the latter are
too easily influenced by what is called "social media" - hardly
indicative of a firm mental strength and wider awareness of what is
happening in this world of ours. These disciples of modern
electronic notice boards are akin to the Jesuit's belief: "Give me the
child and I'll give you the man". Not very comforting for intelligent
multi-understanding of life as it is being "programmed" for our consumption today.

As ever, another exceptional poem, thanks for posting it for us to enjoy.
On the topic at hand I think a lot has to do with context and timing, being that the times we meet up with others whether familiar or strangers there's usually a prime purpose either in that meeting or in whatever was due to happen next, and timing affects both how long is available for the interaction as well as also whether we are even in the ideal frame of mind for thinking and sharing. But it goes beyond the limitation of opportunities because even when such issues pan out perfectly we're often not feeling receptive or fear we won't be well received to open up deep or personal subjects...
Imagine if there was a venue, let's call it 'deep connections ltd', where you can go to spend a while either being the listener or the speaker.. to meet a stranger in a booth and just begin talking to them for a while ... I don't think it would be very popular.
But why is it so successful online... I think beyond all the 'they're too far away to damage me' aspect and the 'I can talk only if i want to' aspect.. there's this.. before we have ever heard someone speak, the words we read of theirs are heard in our own voice.. I wonder if that is why we connect so deeply on line to eachother?
