I think Boris's references must be as out of balance as many other of his insane policies. I remember Stoke Poges trying to find one of about three golf clubs which it boasts, jealously guarded by their anonymity from the road. Perhaps his comments should be classed more as an allergy than an elegy, with regard to his ologies.

Lovely writing Tom. I saw them once and was struck by the atmosphere of Whitby at Christmas, so this adds a dimension to that memory.

Wow, gone and dunnit now, some major reaction, thanks folks.
Stephen, i'll watch out for that cheers.
Greg, there was always something furtive about cinemas to my mind, and therefore quite subversive. Flea pits were especially good for horror and sex, all griss to the crisp mill.
Thanks Kevin, good to hear from you!
Yes Stephen, sound advice indeed. The crisp is not for turning.
That's me, Hugh, thanks!
John, experience will always out. Can't be done quietly.
Graham, a good point. I don't like harsh tastes so tend to stick to the neutral (dippable) variety. A while back, you could get those Smith's bags with salt again but havn't seen them lately.
Thanks Trevor. You've got that right!
Thanks for looking in Holden Aisha and Pete.

I suppose BJ should know all about problems overwhelmingly caused by sheer lust. Still, nice to know that Stoke Poges has been levelled up.

A contact of a contact told me that a similar scam applied on imported wines, Stephen A, with initial prices inflated so they could be marked down as bargains later.
Nothing wrong with stretching hours, Stephen G. When I worked on building sites as a labourer I spent the first half hour of every day “looking for my shovel”.
And thanks for the Like, Dawn.

Fascinating, John. In my first job in the 1970s, I became aware of Civil Service overtime inflation, which made a lot of sense to those involved. Since lower grades were poorly paid to do a job in 40 hours each week, it made sense to be much better paid by taking 60 hours to do the same job.
I've done some consulting work since I retired but none of my output has been the bleedin' obvious. At least, not to me....!

I posted this last year, saying that there is little time left for the world to act in order to offset the worst effects of climate change. I have now updated it, in the light of a year of relative inaction, the dreadful storms and floods of this summer and the upcoming COP26 conference. We must never give up hope, bleak though things look.

Thank you New Shoes. I am sorry for your loss. Here in Manchester it is too regular, every week young men kill themselves. I worry for my youngest. We need to ask 'What is it about our society that is so wrong that it drives thousands of young men to kill themselves?' Honest answers only.

Love a bit of inside info, John. Good stuff. I once worked in a builders yard, and in the shop part, they used to increase the price on certain products over a period of a month, and then when they announced a sale would drop them back down to the original price saying 20% off! Foxes

I have known of 5 living souls who took theirs lives since 2020. One of which I played guitar with once. I remember commenting on his style sounding very uplifting. I upholstered a seat for his custom café motorcycle. He left behind two young daughters.
Another one I had a deep conversation about the hardships of adult hood. I was expressing my concerns about my young children facing their parent's divorce. she was give me comfort in my concerns. She left behind a young daughter and son.
Thank you for being Real John
May the light find those in struggling times and may that light shine upon their mortal path to build strength in their hearts to see that Love is with them always.

Trevor,
A very good poem which took me back to a time when an aunt made her own jam in the same way after rambling through the bracken. I must also agree with you, it never ever made it past Halloween.
Thank you for this

Love the snappy crisp (sorry) delivery of these words Ray. I take it that you like all varieties as you don't specify. Personally, I only like the traditional variety. Whatever happened to the little blue bag of salt eh? Ah well! time and tide.

An insight into one of the thousands of “normal” activities about to be curtailed by the unseen moving shadow. I seem to think the Saxon boat find at Sutton Hoo was largely overlooked as news for some reason.
