Good to see an unchallenged example of "taking us beyond our
comfort zone"! Extraordinary information considering the
frequency of warfare in centuries past. I visited the Waterloo
site years ago and confess that the consideration of this
somewhat startling information didn't enter my mind.

This is a fantastic poem, Frederick. One of your finest in my view. I love the moody evocation of early morning and the sense of our collective history beneath the surface.
How can one forgive what is forgotten? Genius!

It is said that betting on the collapse of the pound - which makes the rest of us poorer - has made the main beneficiaries of Kwasi Kwarteng's budget even richer. Just fancy that! It's a sad day for this country when a government can be so out of touch with the plight of its people, that it thinks it ok to roll out a budget like that.

Yes it does rather take us into the realm of science fiction - it's so ghastly , it's unbelievable.

My thanks to Flyntland and Greg for the comments and to Nigel, Holden, John B, Julie and Pete for the likes.

I don't usually post poems on UK politics but this 'difficult decisions' mantra is so crass that I felt the urge to respond.

I liked your definition, Flyntland. I suppose that she's laughing all the way to the bank(ers).

This does smack of desperation, Greg. A lot of post-Brexit departures.
