The poem opens rather harshly,
And sounds a little judgemental
Why is a dig necessary,
Even in death?

That death comes to us all is irrefutable, inevitable and eternal.
But to suffer it inflicted by the moronic malignancy of an
inadequate ingrate is the ultimate indignity and insult. 😣

Thank you for the comments, Tom and John. I tried to make the first few lines reflect the sense of freedom which would come from flying above the Earth, while the second part expresses, as you say John, concern about the state of the planet. So both your comments were very much to the point (grateful for the humour, Tom).

And thanks to Rudyard, Holden, Brenda, KJ and Nigel for the likes.

I recall it used to be said that something broken beyond recall
had "Gone West". But since there's not much in that direction
up north, then maybe she was sensible and has "Gone South"?! 😉.

The use of books in one form or another to tell a story has been known for centuries and even now, despite the advances of
technology that still holds true. And the "Book of Life" is the
most universal yet the most diverse of them all and its chapters
become our own lives.

but also a time for remembering what used to be and is no longer, even harder for small families to endure.
