Thanks Zuzanna!
Got fired up when I heard through a good friend today that Carol Ann Duffy's poem "Education for Leisure" has been removed from the AQA syllabus, presumably through some cock-eyed linkage to (youth) knife crime in this country. Freedom of expression surely is the bottom line for us today?!

Your comments are very encouraging Zuzanna.
Write on,

Moira

Hello Moira

Welcome to WOL - beautiful Poetry site. Thank you for the nice comment you wrote for me. I am of European descent but live in Canada for half of my life. Knowledge of few foreign languages makes me speak with an accent that I will perhaps carry on for the rest of my life. Had no opportunity to take an intonation courses in English Literature therefore my accent still falls on different syllables.

It is great to have you with us. Keep penning on; I like the style in your writing.

Kind Regards,
Zuzanna Musial

Hello Moira

Well we do have some good reading here within your poem. I love the political mingling with the present settings, the sadness of the World that basically gone mad. Thought provoking and very creative!!

Thank you,
Zuzanna

So each line has ten syllables but it just looks plain awkward and hampers the flow of speech. Also you look the kind of person who thinks rather than muses.

Hi Melissa,
We all need dreams. Sometimes, that's what keeps us going.
But i love the part about our heads not staying too high up in the clouds. Those falls back to earth can be mighty painful.

Love and light, Janet.xx

Live the dream Melissa for we are the stuff of dreams, stardust and starlight and words are peculiarly in our gift.
From far cries accross the forest and mountain top to the cyber babble of our everyday telegraphy..to write is a dream shared and gifted and to dream without record is to die!
Love this 'account' poem and so glad the arrow is free the bow to the very heart of your rightful dream

write on!

Hello Alison ~Glad you are with us …Welcome back!
Your poem is thought provoking. It gives the reader chance to think what’s going to happen next. A great picture of two people that sharing thoughts, life and perhaps love. You do not say this but I feel the discreet thoughts can be read between lines.

Excellent poem!

Thank you,
Zuzanna

Well-deserved accolade for this evocative poem of where Blackley meets Crumpsall and the past meets now; brightness of colours in a fading industrial landscape. Best line for me? Writing the dyeworks into the sky.
Lovely. Thank you Hannah.

Made me smile. Very real and the dynamics and trails of being the parent are transmitted unambiguously! Your voice's 'lists' are captured powerfully!

Tremendous energy and momentum...feel the escalation and detalied irony of this steady subversion of 'fatherly' stereotypes. Powerful sense of the voice and the pain and anger fuse most effectively.
Love the way the poem softens at end. real sadness and disappointment despite the rage.

This is a cryptic message to somebody? OR this is a message to yourself or to that person who dwells inside you who you're torn against? As usual, it got me thinking.

Hello, Phil

I really loved this poem. It is well written and shows that even though you might still love the person but cannot keep them when the love id consumed and it is gone...There is hard to force or impose love on anyone it has to be a real feeling shared when two people love each other. True love never dies.

Thank you for your beauty in your presented write. I like the poem lots!!

All the best always!

HI, Antonio

Excellent thought provoking write. There is a lot of truth in your Sonnet!!

There are many unanswered questions too."""Where do we go from here? What’s the next move?

Is socialism dead, too expensive?"""I like the entry it has a fantastic question to our leaders. Thank you for the wonder of your imagination and a true presentation in a word form.

Best wishes,
Zuzanna

hey pete,
this poem uses a really powerful sense of voice. i love the bit starting 'look what i went out and did for you Dad! and the ending made me feel a big pang of sorrow. i agree with you that you could edit this further. i feel sometimes that the relaxed, 'automatic style' structures you use obscure your words rather than display them.

Hi "Fikus,"
After reading your profile, you've either taken the time and trouble to go on a writing course or you are a natural born poet. ( you lucky devil.)

I love how you wrote " a war of words." and the two liners which gave me the image of a double barrelled shot-gun, shaped like a pen.
I could feel the pressing of the tip on a biro, on-off. on-off.

I like both your samples. They have a really good rhythm.
Thanks for sharing , Janet.x

Thank you everyone.
I must point out, its not about my Dad, parts of it are, but its feelings, some parts are my life others are imaginary , or they are about other peoples dad. People I know. As long as feel the subject matter I can write.

Glad you like!
