Looks like an interesting excercize Martin and i imagine the lines are all from poets around the Wirral. Recognized Tyger Tyger 'cos i just commented on it. No doubt i'll find the others soon.
Nice idea.

Thank you Anthony and John - comments like those make it so worth while. I love John's description of how Marianne's poetry makes him feel - that sounds a lot like love to me - she isn't the inspiration for your drenched poem by any chance? tee hee. Despite all our maligning of WOL, there are some wonderful poets on here. I am hopeful that WOLOP popularity will spread a little, as people start to enjoy the benefits of it themselves. If not, then tomorrow is another day... xx

Hi Rodney
Thanks for your kind comments for the poem 'The First Kiss'. Take your point about 'not being sure the songs having solos to die for'. I had to think of some (popular) songs that clearly had Harmonica solos in them.
Thanks for reading.
Joseph

I can identify with this Cynthia, and it reminds me of my Eyelash poem. I just love the line "but not necessarily unsatisfying"! I don't understand what the scratchings and cacklings of prsumptive opinion are, the rest I love. But in line 9 did you mean to put I'm not rather than I not?

Congratulations to Marianne and Augusta. I have tried to explain how I feel when I read Marianne Daniels' poetry. The nearest I can come is to say it feels like laughing and crying at the same time while being at the point of falling off a very high stool. I hope Ms Daniels realises this is a compliment :-)

Congratulations to all the worthy winners and runners-up this month. Also thanks to Isobel for her efforts in collection and collation of the votes.
And to all those apathetic and cynical souls who couldn't be bothered to vote, an early Christmas present of raspberries and humbugs!

Hi Gaia
Enjoyed last night.
Here's an oddish request/thought for the next Puzzle. A month or two ago, I posted a poem 'The Sun Shone' which Winston did an audio version of, just a week or two back.
The main part of the text would probably be better, read by a woman, with the male voice for just the first and last two lines. If you have a look at the Winston version, the reason will become clear.
Do you fancy having a go?
I will not be offended in the slightest if you decide not (honestly, underlined). It's just a thought.

Absolutely brilliant Paul, a sad indictment on today's youth and the vacuousness and hopelessness of their lives, skillfully juxtaposed with references from the hopeful sixties. Bit bloody miserable though.

Hello Mike, this is a really powerful and tragic poem. I suppose if someone doesn't value their own life, they don't value anyone elses. I don't think it seems real to them, but just a computer game. That's the tragedy too.

Gus, many thanks for your kind comment.
How come I have favourable comments from 2 of the most objectionable gits on the site ?(Aikman and Emmerson by the way). I begin to worry.
I read the poem at Sowerby Bridge last night, but was met with a degree of stone-faced hostility from a small female claque. Freda takes it in good part, and knows that it's so obviously tongue in cheek (or is that a bit risque).

Think I could do with your mother in my kitchen. Icy rain sluices down my windows every day and it is hard to look on the bright side sometimes...
I like the way you can give such insight into a relationship through a glimpse into everyday household life. This reminds me of other poems you have written about your mother. Very subtle writing.

Good evening Ann
Thank you for having a read of my stuff. I'll give blogging a go sometime yes.
I wasn't sure whether it was justanotherspaceforapoem or a place to subject WoL poets to the minutiae of my rather insignificant existence. I think it is the former.
Fortunately... for all of us!
Have a great tunesday

Delightful little ditty. Sleek and thin, I presume. And, yes, I agree, quite 'spooky'. But these instant connections do happen in families. My fifteen-year-old grandson would totally croak if he knew how often he sounds exactly like his mother - vocabulary - timing - tone - thought processing!

A great poem, Sian. I love North American mythology, with its spiritual connection to all living things, especially animals. Perhaps you do too. Mind you, I like MYTHOLOGY period, but especially that of the First Peoples of N.A.

Yes - sometimes it is the straw that breaks the camels back. We all cope with horrendous ordeals but it is the smallest of tasks that can tip the scales and make it all register. Your poem expresses this well.
