Totally enjoyed reading this poem, Adam. Transported to the land of the fisherman who loved ragtime and wanted to break away to new lands. Curious as to the source or inspiration for the character described in the poem.

Farage is a demagogue, who has helped inflict an immense economic and social catastrophe on the most vulnerable of UK society.
He did so (as his type always do) by appealing to the racists and gullible.
He has in short taken the urine out of the UK.
Farage had it extracted in turn by Nick Robinson.
To quote a dear old soldier "They don't like it up 'em you know!"

I see interview after interview where politicians of all parties are put on the defensive by journalists. They could do with a bit of what Farage has.
I mix with a lot people across the social spectrum and the overall impression I am given is that Farage is widely liked and respected. Though maybe not amongst WOL members.

Merci pour pour commentaire Kevin 😁
Ta grammaire est au point et ta raison, la langue française est belle avec la poésie comme n'importe quelle langue. Ce que c'est important c'est ce qu'on fait avec les mots en non les mots par elles mêmes 😁
Thanks for the kind words Kevin 😁
Your grammar is correct and you are right, french is good for poetry as any language. What's important is what we do with the words and not the words by themselves 😁

Thanks for liking this one Stephen.
I re-read Song of the Battery Hen and it's a delightful ironic piece . Thanks for the comparison. I have the lady in question living next door so I have a fairly abrasive relationship with her after trying to tackle some brambles that came over my side and it's all a bit bizarre, which I think fits in with the poem, I hope!

Farage took exception to the tone of Robinson's interview, no more, no less. Since when is a response of that kind a sin?
You have your opinion but how about some proof of your libellous
description of him as "a traitor"? Farage, to his credit. doesn't
indulge in declining to air opposing opinions. That alone is in
contrast to those of an opposing socio-political viewpoint.

'You can say what you like about Farage' ... but can you? He objected to Nick Robinson's 'condescending tone' on Radio 4's Today programme the other day. You say that he's a patriot, MC ... I say he's a traitor and Putin sympathiser.

Thanks for the comments, Greg and Graham. I think 'desolation' sums it up, Greg. Behind some of the cheery TV interviews with soldiers at the front, you can sense the fear and apprehension in these young eyes.
Good point, Graham. Someone I spoke to recently said 'You don't hear much about it now'. Depressing to see all the African leaders and diplomats shaking hands with Putin at his summit today. He is, after all, wanted by the ICC as a war criminal.
And thanks to Ruth and Hélène for the likes.

It is said, with justification, that happiness (contentment) comes
from within. The dark side is the melancholy that can exist with
it. But life, like nature, has its sun and rain and the secret is
to be able to accept both for what they are worth and not let
either dominate existence.
