You're a fine figure of a man.
I don't know why you would be going to SW, other than to letch at chubbies.
By the way when we're the scales last calibrated (or did you just put one foot on)

A thoughtful poem, Keith, with an interesting rhyming pattern. So much is unseen or unsaid.

Thank you, John. Yes, it hadn't occured to me when I wrote it, but the theme is quite familiar. Nobody ended up well in that one, least of all Fred Astaire.
And my thanks to Nigel, Hugh, Holden, Ferris, Pete, Jed, K Lynn, Purplemoon, Hélène and Manish for liking this one.

Fascinating. This one was hard for me to penetrate, but rewarding. I don't understand the idiosyncrasies of the setting, but this piece conveys the lonely, intelligent voice of a weary observer, and it's very compelling.
To me the message of Kes is that if you love something, you have to let be free to leave if it wants to, and let it come back to you if it chooses. This works for friendships and relationships very well, I find. As the poem evokes Kes, this theme underlies this piece and there is a sense that the narrator has let go of their past, and is unsure if they want it back.
(I could be entirely wrong, but the genius of this dynamic works very well for me as a reader)

I think that sensitive people are rewarded for the pain they experience by being open to the healing powers of nature.

I also had to google both words, and don't know how I've communicated so far without them.
A little repetition goes a long, long, long, long, long, long, long way with this one. Nice work

I am so very sorry to hear that dear Jed. I recently lost my best friend to a suicide that should have been prevented. He begged for help at two hospitals and was turned away with a big bag of fucking valium. The coroner is still investigating but I'm sure nobody will accept responsibility and my friend will not be coming out with the dogs ever again. John

My wife and I still have teenage picture of our marriage on display and regularly play music of the time! 1968 onwards!
We all retain those halcyon memories but now watch our middle-aged children facing the same parental dilemmas as we did.
Thank you for the memories Keith. Stay young my friend

As a youngster, I always wanted to be an adult thinking that it'd be so fun. But, all the fun actually was in childhood and teenage years. Be it first love, first kiss, confronting a crush for the first time, group study, last minute studies, exams, results, friends and gossips.
I enjoyed reading this poem a lot, Keith.
Thank you.

Hey Hugh,
Had the pleasure of meeting yourself in Manchester a few weeks ago, during which you shared some poetry with me. I've had the chance to look at the rest of your work and am equally impressed by your art.
Cheers,
