lot of good stuff, Charlotte in here - particularly like the last line..

one minor thing to perhaps think about is the use of 'cold' in the second line as i think with it been used at the end of the piece, you don't perhaps need it... it's top stuff however.. good luck x

I see town foxes right here in the centre of the capital...trotting along with a certain
attitude. This poem uses an increasingly
familiar sight to remind us of the real essence

PS Yes, we celebrate Christmas later according to Russian Orthodox calender, but I celebrate it twice. My father was from Russia and my mother's ancestors were from Poland. My mother's surname was Adamska and I was baptized in a Greek Catholic church. So, I am so lucky to have two Christmas holidays.

Enjoyed this. I think I understood most of it. The Front Room = Standard English and the back rooms are where dialects, everyday speech are spoken. That's a great metaphor. What I didn't get was the repetition of the variations on nowhere to display.

We had a front room with a huge bay window looking out into the world, or if the world look in on

Nice poem, Dave! The only line I can't accept: "as they traverse down this life's road". Why down? Why not up? Is it just English language? I always thought that with each coming year we are going higher and higher. So, why not to say "up the road"?

I really love that poem Nigel - especially the beginning and end - 'Misery is a cross' and 'Christmas is an early spring towards happiness' - beautiful :) You need a little punctuation in the middle to aid reading but perhaps you are not a fan of punctuation.

You should get yourself a profile and start blogging.
