Well now - it seems that HAL from Stanley Kubrick's movie
"2001" is here, with "improvements" surely on the way in the
dubious name of progress. The one I meet is usually at the
end of the telephone when I try to order something or make a
complaint! At least I can hang up before I am led astray by
the promise of being able to talk to a human being. đ

Topical and well put! I certainly believe that we should all be allowed to give permission to be helped on our way if illness
and affliction make existence untenable for oneself. It should
be easy enough to put safeguards into place to ensure that
no undue "pressure" is alleged by those of the "life at all costs"
persuasion - who can always sign an affidavit excusing themselves from such a procedure and soldier on as they see
fit. The best of luck to them - and those they ensure must be
responsible for their state of being in the meantime! Misery
loves company !!

I ;like the rhythm and the "repeat" final words of each stanza.,
employed to great effect. I tend to take a questioning attitude
to much of what is imposed upon us theee days - and have a healthy circumspection about the word "expert". Plus......
We tend to deserve an apology
For each use of the term "idealogy"!

Thanks Stephen, all I know is that when Alexa's halo changes colour in our kitchen nothing is sacred and we are all in trouble. I haven't asked her to compose a poem (yet) and Chat GPT's attempts at humorous verse are laughable (but not laughable, if you know what I mean). However, AI is progressing at a terrifying pace and no doubt it won't be too long before we will be reading new verse on WriteOutLoud and thinking "I wonder"...

HélÚne, I'm glad you liked my awkward weather report! I'm glad you resonate with the unexpected joy taking out the bins. Is there anything else that the three of you find happiness in-which might be considered mundane for someone else?
Stephen, I know all is right in the world, when I see a comment from you!

Yes, Anita, I think being a Spurs fan should be available on the NHS. We wouldnât need anaesthetics having got used to our perennial pain. I think the poems you post on here are automatically copyrighted; you could email Admin who will tell you. One of the volunteers on this site is Uncle Graham Sherwood Who, coincidentally is another sad Spurs fan.
I also attach one of my Spurs poems about the Champions League game against Manchester City of a few years ago. You will notice immediately the difference between your song and mine - you can sing.

Poetry is always connected to romance at heart, regardless of which style it belongs to. The fact that poets think differently than economists is certainly nothing new. But the interaction of different perspectives and forces can achieve some unexpected things. At least an imaginary space is created that can be filled with life.
Basically, I am grateful that such dignified places can be created to showcase oneself and provide a brief insight into a world of one's own.
Maybe I can arrange an opportunity to present myself there. Maybe as a little artist with a terrible accent?

In my younger days, I was partial to a few bevvies of best
bitter but timed them to coincide with evenng closing time when
bed and board beckoned. Even today, when so much electronic
wizardry attracts busy fingers and eager minds, I tend to think
just how much free treasure there is to enjoy out there.:
A walk; identifying trees and plants; bird-spotting (feathered
variety, in case you're cynica!) and just ordinary people-watching,
to mention just a few at random.

Thanks Keith,
âmore money in the bankâ perfectly sums the situation up.
So many of the UKâs politicians are currently bankrolled by the very perpetrators of the obscenities you describe.
Stephen, speaking of âanonymous warfareâ.
UK politicians -no names, no pack drill- are, shamelessly, in flagrante delicto, in the Mother of Parliaments, and on so-called âNewsâ channels, whipping up hatred through blatant lies and slander, directed against the very people and against Jewish people, who are calling for peace, and a cessation of genocide.
They are all but pointing at individuals and groups, suggesting âthis is who you need to stick the knife in, fire the gun at, or where you throw the petrol bombâ.

Thanks, RA, for your kind words and perceptive comments. It is very worrying that Putin's brutal regime seems to be cranking up its efforts right now and that some in the West (notably the Republican Party in the US) seem to have lost the stomach to even provide military aid. And yet Ukraine continues to resist heroically, which must give us some hope.
