It takes a lot of bravery
To come out on the screen
Expose our inner selves to all
Those we've never seen

It's called help by catharsis
We need it, you and me
We all need showing bravery
It is ones therapy

Reminds me a little of the Limerick that doesn't work,

There was a young man from Tralee,
Who was stung on the leg by a wasp,
When asked if it hurt,
He said, "Not at all,"
"It can do it again if it likes."

Those old camps were really variants on the internment camps with a sort of circumscribed expectation; my first was in 1950, the one that appeared on Hi de Hi. There was still barbed wire and mines on the beaches. I love that line boxed happiness, A smell of disinfectant pervaded. Outside toilets with large gaps under the doors. I had constipation all the time I went to them.

Years later as a muso I often played in them. Cardboard palm trees and Lloyd loom chairs.

Excellent poem so true to life.

There's a compelling quality to this Tommy, I find it like a sort of breaking out and a rejection of what is expected. You know the plan but I like it a lot.

A Book with a History

Alive it speaks
lifting featherweight pages
shaded storybook trees
honey comb trail
secret forest path
young girl follows
whispering musical wind
peaceful harmony everywhere
curiosity stirs laughter
friendly sincere bear
together enjoying adventures
inside children's dreams
plant pot flowers
sunlight colours bloom
window stays open.

These lines bring to mind the YouTube video of a US (?) rat snake
stalking a faun while a large farm cat stalks the snake which eventually departs the scene. Any snake that takes on a cat is
risking injury via very sharp little teeth and claws...hard to swallow,
I'd have thought.

Thanks Stu for reading - yes it's hard to beat that I know!

Glad you got that feeling Heart of Lead, My mind was roaming !

Thanks Cynthia; just a play on the words at the end, glad you liked it.

Hi David, cheers for that. Welcome to our world. The Clive James is wonderful.

Welcome Mae. I must admit I was happy with that line. !

Trevor, welcome. Sorry to sound indulgent, but there's a form of music called a tone poem; this is one like that. Glad you liked it!

In addition, many thanks for the likes: Frances, Rich, Jon, Anya and Dorothy.

John, who need vocals to communicate?
You can tap tap it out on the screen
See? your poem's not vocalled on audio
It's just tap tapped out like the teens

You've made a strong argument for talking
Which I fully support you all way (so don't get upset...)
You're faecal emoji is priceless
But does FOOK stand for 'fuck off ok'?

If so I will tell all my tech friends
By tapping it out on their screens
No need to ring up and say 'hey guys'
I wanna keep phone data mean ?

I grew up in Africa, Cynthia where the rainy season arrives with a vengeance. The thunder comes first, so we'd count to see how many miles away the lightening would strike.
One day we were playing in the park and a huge storm was suddenly upon us - no time to dash home. We were always told never to shelter under a tree, so we tried to take cover beside an anthill.
Very frightened because we only got to 1 or 2 when the thunder finished, we watched as a man with an umbrella ran to shelter under a tree just as it was split in half by lightening and exploded into flames!

NOTE: Apparently I am wrong! In our storms, there was never just one bolt of lightening... However, I was obviously confused. The visual memory is absolutely clear though.
