When there is nothing left to say: silence wins, we all become dumb at the horror of the world.
“The silence depressed me. It wasn't the silence of silence. It was my own silence.”

Gents (you know who you are) - thanks for the" likes". My wish
was to catch the immediate feelings of many and recall that
final image of Her Majesty smiling that memorable smile of
hers even as her life neared its end..

I believe her greatest legacy is the way that the system she so
graciously and effectively represented for so long has moved
ahead, with her son and heir showing the way with what has been described as a "pitch perfect" address to the nation. Her
late Majesty would surely nod her head vigorously in happy
acceptance of that manifestation of the ongoing value of the institution of monarchy in these islands..

I read these lines with knowledge of a saying: "Cynicism is the
last resort of idealism" Sadly, there has never been a perfect
world, let alone perfect people and their systems. The long
institution of monarchy provides a guiding light for the wayward
passing shipping in the often stormy political seas. .

There are those who banged on about a "life of privilege" but I
only know she was born into an institution that followed a
irresistible code of expectation - noblesse oblige, if you like -
then "jump started" into the biggest role of all....one that she
fulfilled to perfection for so long. And to those who envied her
"life of privilege", imagine having every moment of your days
in public minutely examined as if under an all-seeing ruthlessly
critical microscope from the moment you go beyond your front
door. If that's "privilege", set it against the loss of the personal
freedom we take for granted and weigh up the cost. God Save The King.
