Depends how long Harry Kane is out for and if Son can stay on fire. I'd settle for beating the bloody Arsenal for once. Good start though!

Ahhh - I know what this is about, but never went there. I stayed up North to rave.
Wooden spoon, heh, makes me think of Tyres on Spaced ? We'd dance to the tunes in our heads whilst waiting for a cab.
I like the repetition of 'and you are my friend'. So Stu - what's yer name, where you from, and what you on? ?
Where do we go from here? I'm glad I had my days, but all I see now is a return to illegal raves I'm afraid. Or not, actually ?

Stu, perhaps you've given too much away by commenting first.
I love Line 2 and 5,6,7
We've all seen girls (I presume it was a girl) dancing in strobe lights, holding us spellbound!
The wooden spoon/leather car seat line is classic!
good work

very nice. reminds me a little bit (its a very tenuous link) of the film 'the man from earth' which is about a man that believes he is a cro-magnon who has lived for 14000 years and constantly has to move on from his friends and families. like i said, very tenuous but a good movie all the same.

That's a great poem, Anna. As has already been said, sometimes it's what *isn't* put in a poem which makes it so powerful. Well done!

The Americans are facing an absolutely horrible choice. Personally, I suspect Trump has done worse than talk. But then so has Hillary - aiding and enabling her husband to do all kinds of evil to other women. I would have voted for Sanders, but perhaps that is because I am, in Killary's words, "(a) basement dweller". Whoever wins, the American electorate loses..

What a brilliant event Julian! The best I've ever been to in terms of quality acts. Humour combined with intelligent, subtle, social commentary, scattered here and there with beautiful use of language.
I loved every act. Thank you Greg for a wonderful review. You did a great job but you'd have to have been there to really appreciate it!

Lots of questions here, MC..
I grew up in a house full of debate..much of it quite deadly in the idea that either you took the "right" side or you argued your way into a sort of mexican standoff and called it a temporary victory.
That said, I much appreciate tolerance provided to differing opinions..a strife gained seems a common ground lost, to me. Though, we both know that opinion differs much from action upon it.
One question: does "poetic" style really isolate people from meaningful intercourse?
Much appreciated..

TD - thanks. I've since changed a couple of words but
the meaning and the memory remain. Box had two stations
then: the larger archtypal local GWR station complete with sidings and depots - and nearer to the village with simple up and down platforms (no staff) a station that allowed a
fifties boy wonderful unchallenged access - even the fun
of placing pennies on the line while waiting for the next
express to pass...followed by a search for the remains
if any along the "sleepers" afterwards.

Hi, Laura,
I read this while at work today and was so happy to see someone post on this.
To tell the truth, I've struggled for decades to define exactly what I am politically. But, I surely know what I'm not--and, all the more clearly, now that I've seen my enemy repeatedly peep out of his snake hole.

I'm tempted to say that I agree with unlimited immigration but only so long as they can all go and live on your street.
But I don't want to get it into a pointless discussion about immigration. I think this government is obsessed with it to the point of xenophobia and, frankly, out and out racism. That doesn't mean I'm in favour of unlimited immigration.
But why don't you read the book. You never know, you might even learn something. Unlikely, I know...

Hi Stu,
Thanks for the comment. The typo was deliberate to portray the silent scream of isolation that lies within the screen world but I can see how that would be hard to work out so I will change it.
Appreciate the feedback ?
