Great Ray! Can see them quarrelling, then making up again. Liked the recording too - not so easy to read I's think?

The all consuming mother has a formative role to play and she is the bedrock of all this consummation as I see this Stu. There is hidden veiled promise and a sort of yielding all hovering. The last two lines sound like a sacrificial rite almost. (Slightly reminiscent of To the Devil a Daughter c/o Hammer films. ) Get me out of here.

You have an inimitable flair for reaching right into the guts of what might otherwise seem banal--a sort of shock to the senses but refreshing.

Interesting analogy. But it's not really fair to compare Trump to Hitler
even if the actions may seem compatible. Trump's USA has a huge
South American continent south of its borders, comprising of
failed dictatorships and communist catastrophies continually in
foment - not least from murderous insurgents and drug lords who
butcher and maim because of inept and corrupt governments.
His duty is to keep his country secure from their invasive/corrosive effects and to keep his electoral promises, with as much control as he is able to muster in peacetime.

There has to be justified anger and disillusionment at the way politicians send our men and women into situations beyond imagining, then fail in their over-riding duty to provide proper care
and attention upon their return...often damaged mentally as much as
physically as a result of being sent away to fight in distant places
for political reasons that change shape and relevance from day to
day,,,even from hour to hour. Little changes if history is any guide:
witness how the veterans of the Napoleonic wars were treated via
the introduction of the Vagrancy Act 1824, or how the post-WW1
governments behaved in this so-called "land fit for heroes". We have
moved on - but not enough!.

Some in WOL seem to be quite happy with 'essays' appearing in a blog. Funny, but I thought WOL was a 'poetry' site , blogs bearing some characteristics around which a poem is constructed.
Maybe I'm not flying in the higher plane and able to appreciate this 'new-age' poetry...?
I like your attitude MC

Intriguing. I have read a variety of prose items on subjects like
death, family and personal misfortunes that never fail to elicit
sympathetic/identifying comments. Is it the form - or the content...
or both? I just made a point of moving away substantially from
my usual verse in the cause of variety of thought and presentation
to present content which might not be familiar but nonetheless
interesting. Ah well...back to the craic of the formulaic...suitably
chastised, but not disheartened.

Can't keep up with your output Ray! All good stuff too. Agree with Rachel that one can smell that musty odour that a workshop often has, and the smell of oil and metal. Also one can sense her sadness at having to get rid of 'his world', and her antipathy for the potential shark/buyer. Really loved it.
