When Stars Danced.

When Stars Danced.

In a time once passed, stars danced for us

Butterflies hovered serenely in meditation

Guides whispered messages and Angels and demons waged war

On the battlefield of the soul

A time of shipwreck and salvation.  Of death and rebirth

Then christened in the waters of madness

Swaddled in blankets of both wonderment and torment

Guidance was delivered...

And then the heart does flutter.

And then the heart does flutter

From the slightest of embrace

From the slightest tiny mutter

From the lips upon your face

And it’s like nothing ever changed

From the time we both were one

From the time before my heart broke

From the time that you where gone

And in that stolen instant

From a place within my heart

From a place no longer distant

From a place...

Soliloquy of the damned.

Soliloquy of the damned.

Is it not, such a bitter sweet paradox that it is only in our deepest moments of despair
that the seeds of compassion already inherent in our souls gain the propensity to germinate. Then in our healing permitted to flower.

Would it be the case that without rebuilding we could be whole or must we first be broken to be completed.  Are we left searc...

Waiting for the duster.

Waiting for the Duster

I sit there sometimes just looking at my hand
Is it real?  Am I here?  I ask

Oh fuck, it will probably hit me soon
Bet you it smashes me right in the middle of fucking the head

An exorcist told me once that its all just a physical illusion
I don’t know if that’s true…But I do know…At least, I think I do anyway

We create ...

True life's an art

True life's an art

I like to glimpse at the world through the eyes of a child

See opportunity in tragedy and chances to change

Try to rebuild the thinking that I once defiled

And find wonder in things that some others find strange

See past all the small print and survey the big picture

Chase compassion not fashion, for ...

How many

How many

How many fathers will kiss their children goodbye as they sleep.

Then slip into the night.  Never to kiss them again.

How many parents will live out long lives,

Knowing the curse of outliving their young.

How many wives will clutch memories to heart and medals in hand.

Instead of holding the husband they loved.

How many children will ...

I dont usaully do preamble however I must put this into context, its regarding Comments made in Spectator magazine in 2004 while Boris Johnson was editor.   The Article went out 'unsigned' which means nobody owned up to writing it.  However one of Boris's tean later on said that Boris had "a hand in it".

The Spectator claimed that "an excessive predilection for welfarism" had "created...

Just one more time, please

Just one more time, please!!!!!!!

Just one last go of it, then I’ll stop, I promise
I’m saving my last one…. for a 'special person'
I used to do it all the time
Casually in fact
I meet lots of ‘special people’ everyday
Some very deserving of it
I want to give it to them
Give it to them hard
I fantasise about it all the time
Who I’m going to do it to

Home Sweet Gnome

Home Sweet Gnome

When the lights go out and no ones about
In the gardens of our homes

There comes the cheery, happy, shout
Of  our friends the garden gnomes

They know its spring and work they must
They have a lot to do

The secret work that goes unnoticed
By the likes of me and you

There’s a hive o...

Ripples of Detriment

Ripples of Detriment

I will not mourn your passing, or for that, rejoice your death
As you embark upon the journey that begins with your last breath

Perhaps you thought it proper and in sound mind made your choices
Utilitarian motives maybe?   Deafend you, to the sound of poorer voices?

The miners, plebs and working class who became collateral damage

The Macabre Castle

The Macabre Castle

The macabre castle stood on the hill
Long since forgotten as though time stood still

Just close your eyes now and picture this scene
A castle so scary no Childs ever been

The sun doesn’t’t shine on its great grey cold walls
And even the battlements look lonely in the rain as it falls

And the drawbridge resembles the teeth of...

The Giant Slayer

The Giant Slayer

Eighty centimetres tall that’s all he is, that makes me a giant, a real life giant
Just to compare….. If he was my height I’d be over 12 feet tall

This Giants not a big scary giant though, this is a cuddly giant
A funny giant, a dancing giant, a laughing giant and one that snores in the morning

“WAKE UP DADDY!” that’s what he shouts f...

My Dragon

My Dragon

A dragon lives beneath my bed, it hides there through the day
It waits until I’m all alone and all the adults gone away

Then at the bottom of the bed, I see its tail, uncoiling round and round
Then some golden wings, a slender neck, as if its coming out the ground

Its eyes are red and its breathing smoke and its teeth are sharp and shiny

Blue Lights, No Siren

Blue lights, No Siren

The ambulances whiz past to Alder Hey…..
All day and all night.
They pass.

Some without blue lights and sirens, I hope…..
Hope……They are just going to pick a little boy up
And, take him home

I hope he’s going to a nice home……
Where he lives with people that love and appreciate him.
For the gift he is.

The Latest Craze

The Latest Craze

Oh fucking hell!, the latest craze.
The Scouse brow look.  Oh happy days!

Big gargantuan caterpillars on orange birds.
Big fluffy things, like hairy turds.

There’s lads who go out at night, chasing beaver.
There getting secret lessons off…. Sigourney Weaver.

Because its like chasing aliens in our town.
They’ve got bo...

Caught Between The Devil And A Dragon

Caught Between The Devil And A Dragon

She pushes the pram with the smiling infant inside
Not with the blessings of youth and good health
As when she first pushed her own children

A lethargic, determined but almost defeated push of the pram
The push of a person who has to push on
Rather than someone who wants or chooses to

Her eyes meet my own ...

How brave a poet

How brave a poet

A snap shot of emotion, now that’s a poem!
Of feelings felt and what once was known

A secret peak through his life’s looking glass
In swirls of joy or……. Mustard gas

Some poems so dark they make you choke
Some make us giggle as though a joke

But all serve one purpose dark or light
Those inner realms they do ignite

Four Leaf Clover

Four Leaf Clover

I saw two leprechauns last night
Doing a dance around our garden light

So I snook out the front, and down our back alley
with my hood pulled up just like a scally

Scaled next doors fence, then over ours
with a fishing net and two jam jars

Then I crept up…..I caught the two
They didn’t know just what to do

Rekindle cake (plus video performance attached at bottom)

Rekindle cake

You take a teaspoon of wisdom, add two ounces of brave.
Then you extract the past and the now try to save.

Six drops of humble mixed with fine compromise
And then stir in to taste, as you look in her eyes

One cup of loves flour, and two knobs…………… who love.
Then you ask for some help from the chefs up above.

A sprinkle of ...

While you sleep

While you sleep

You must be have been sent by angels, as you lay there so perfect
You must be a gift from above I think, as you lay there, so still

You’re the one aren’t you, the one sent to save me
But your not here to save me from, what’s outside, are you.

You’re here to save me from what’s inside
You’re here to save me, from…………….
