The flickering flame

in the dream of your eyes,

is a glimmer of life

in a darkening sky.

 

But little heat remains

to warm the weary hearts

of those so slowly left

bereft and torn apart

 

A chill wind blows a tear

across the cooling fires,

a rain of lasting love falling

softly through life's briars

 

A trickle of silent sorrow

leaving trails on shall...

The spark of a flame
In the dream of your eyes
Flickering life
In a darkening sky

The depths of a life
Of torment and pain
A swirling pull
From a deepening drain

But heat yet remains
To warm the heart
Of those so dearly
Torn apart

A cold wind blows a tear
Across the cooling fires
The rain of love
Falling through life's briars

A river of sorrow

The Futility Of War

Death, The Dealer,
The final deck of life.
No hidden agendas,
Just a cold slate to wipe.
 
With hand and sword,
With rock and stone.
With shaft sailing, deadly,
Through grey skies, alone.
 
The smarter the weapon,
The reaper delights.
A fulsome harvest,
Of terror and cries.
 
Split the atom,
And split the odds.
Split the procee...

I see him at my window tonight.
The moon, full and bright
Casts his dark shadow onto an icy wall.
A familiar silhouette, unmistakable,
Pressed against the pane.
The cold melts his breath into feathery diamonds
Running in thin veins down the thick glass.
His face, hidden and veiled in black
Glances my way and nods;
I nod back
Acceptingly. Suddenly,
The glass no longer divid...
