Thanks for all comments and to Tom, Adam, Jordyn, Aisha, Nadia and Holden for the likes.
Leon - there is certain physical resemblance between JC and JC, although not JC, if you see what I mean.
Ray - yes, the hunchback. I suppose there is also a subliminal allusion to the famous slip wire incident in the London park (complete with strangely small Union Jacks).
John - I reckon you're in the clear.
All the best Steve

Does Silvie have an orthopedic mattress? There is a punishing schedule taking place which the normal springs could not tolerate.
Brilliant Kevin and thanks

Ray - Bill Bryson reported in his book on the home that loss of
appetite can be connected with a vitamin deficiency - was it B1 ?
No fun to eat if the "interest" isn't there.

Thanks Jennifer good of you to drop in. A very emotional time sadly. I used the Holmes method - when faced with the impossible what remains must be the solution (or something like that). We do have foxes here and they were on a table, so i'm pretty certain - I know they go for anything leather.

HI Trevor. Gargantuan writing. I'm trying to put on weight and have lost some appetite, but am forcing as much protein down as possible ( a polite way of saying your poem is very appropriate.)

Blimey, some vitriol Jennifer. I think this a great piece that just keeps on going and giving of that strong feeling. Can't be faulted and illustrates how destructive our relationships can be when driven to it. All a bit like an Ibsen play. Hope you're well!

The title alone...! Perhaps in his scaling of impossible heights he should team up with the hunchback of Notre Dame, another calamitous figure. Nice, Stephen!

This is a real pearl - it made me read on and absorb it without any faultlines. It manages to avoid over sentimentality by being open and truthful, a hard act to achieve, and there is no bitterness to it, another good thing!

Scottish Nationalists are keen to overlook, Stephen, that Scotland joined the Union because it had to. It was bankrupted by its Darien venture and needed English money to bail it out.
And thanks for the Like, Aisha.

Agriculture is undergoing a revolution of sorts. Fishing boats are now equipped with a machine which affixes breadcrumbs to fish as soon as they are caught. A highly efficient and cost effective process.
A good poem. Thanks

Sometimes our misfortunes dwell on us and we have no power over them, we can fight the good fight but as is manifest we do not always win.
We should not surrender whatever the cost. We should at our very least attempt to understand those who cannot escape their past, if we cannot do that what hope do they have?
Quoting the genius of Voltaire is a get out of jail free card, fair enough I guess.
