Hi Jeff,
Thought it was a bit long winded. Ha!
Antoninoni must support a childs football team, there's nearly always a fight after a football match isn't there?
Otherwise, why do people watch the damn game. There's nowt much else to see.
Ouch! there was no need for that!!!

I wrote this to mark the start of the new football season. It describes football how I remember it when I used to follow my team Bolton Wanderers in the late 70s and throughout the 80s all over the country.
I hope it takes you back to those 'pre Prawn sandwich brigade' days (if you were around!) when you could have a few beers, pay on the gate, stand and sing where you wanted, basically when football was your life! Oh yes and there was the odd bit of aggro!!
Hope you enjoy it, cheers Jeffarama! Come on you Whites!!!

The more I read and re-read this piece, the more I become absorbed inside it. (This is always a good sign - for me anyway). When I read a poem, I want to be left with more questions than I have answers. If this happens, then I feel that the poem and its writer has hit the spot. Well, I have lots of questions that will only be answered by reading this poem over and over again.
I notice Rodney that you have chosen to punctuate using just commas until right at the very end of the last sentence. I think this works well.
Not sure though if all the verbs are consistant in their tense and maybe this is what I find enigmatic? There is definately something there with this one though. Really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Antoni,
I like the tone in this poem.
I won't go on about Darwins theory, we can all be likened to a species of some description.
Look at the chinese animal symbols for particular horoscope signs. My own is pretty spot on but i hope no-one thinks i look like one, or call me one for that matter. ha ha.
Ostriches i know aplenty. Enough said about that.

Oh yes, i can defo' relate to a lot of this one.
Working to pave the way but getting in the way of poetic living.
Au revoirs in helium tones, i love that line. Reminds of a load of quacking ducks. ha ha.
At the end of the day, meditating is a thing i also used to do every day for the same reason as in your poem.
Now i just meditate when the thought enters my mind. That sir, is called trust and intuitive guidance and it works every time.

Hello, Antonio
These sounds like a darker type of a write -Darwin Theory…I will not dispute anything in your poem, your expression is excellent and the poem is good!
For me it would be rather difficult to write about politics and Philosophy.
Thank you,
Zuzanna

Dear Melissa
The poem has a lot of psychology in the body of the write. You are trying to find ways and answers to subjects that at times we are not able to conquer alone. It is thought provoking write. Your thinking leads the reader to stop and contemplate why we are here for, it reminds of the song that been sang by R.U.S.H. a Canadian Band - 'DREAMLINE'
He's got a road map of Jupiter
A radar fix on the stars
All along the highway
She's got a liquid-crystal compass
A picture book of the rivers
Under the Sahara
They travel in the time of the prophets
On a desert highway
Straight to the heart of the sun
Like lovers and heroes,
and the restless part of everyone
We're only at home when we're on the run
On the run
This is something in that sense...They are trying to find the way as you are searching yours....Great poem!!
With my best wishes!
Zuzanna

Dear Melissa
This poem has a lot of your inner feelings in your poem. You have gone through memory lane and examined your soul. There are times in life that we need a gentle pat on the back or a hug from someone to show us that they care. It seems that you went over that line too.
"""There were times
when I had almost
turned the flame into smoke
and watched my dreams hover over nothing,
but then there were those
that took my hands,
showered me with kind words,
and gave me the strength
to embrace the fire
burning so bright
in me these last few years."""
This poem has a healing properties dealing with thoughts or things that you had to overcome for whatever the reason...Great write Melissa!!
Thank you for sharing a portion of your heart in your poem. Loved this one!
Warm wishes,
Zuzanna

It made me laugh OUT LOUD. My grandmother (bless her) used to clean toilets in Birkenhead and it was said they were so pristine that you could eat your dinner off them, apparently she was legendary (I never knew her and she didn't speak much english). Well your poem brought that back to me too!

You won't believe this, but you are only the 2nd person to use the name Ffej!!! A very good girlfriend of mine who I used to go out with, used to call me that all the time, it was very sweet, until we finished!
I still keep in touch though she works in Thailand now. Uncanny though because you couldn't have seen that anywhere!
If you go to any gigs in Preston let me know, if I'm free its no problem driving up Mway, be good to see you and do a couple of poems up there, cheers Jeff
