You have summed up the perplexity and confusion many of us must feel in the face of the horror we are privy to nightly on the TV. A poem written, as usual, with great panache, Stephen. Thank you.

What next - the 1812 Overture?
SG - i noted the similar action by the Cardiff ensemble over the
"Little Russian" Symphony. No less jelly-kneed in my view.
GF - The comment about sirens is fair and I was mindful of
the observation of a Lincoln fan who was prepared to go along
with that decision but not with the decision to ban the music.
The Dambusters March does NOT glorify war, a false premise. Instead, it celebrates the extraordinary achievement of fifty
RAF air-crews, half of whom failed to return alive from their
mission. As for your other comments, henceforth I will
think of you as "The bloke who puts the woke in Woking" π.
Cheers..,

Moving and compassionate poem. Well done, Rasa. So sad what some people have to live through. Frank was lucky to have such a caring person looking out for him.ππ

I find the poem entertaining and cleverly rhymed, MC, and I enjoyed it. The question of refusing to play certain music during this conflict is a tricky one. For instance, I saw that an orchestra would not play Tchaikovsky's 2nd Symphony, because the 'Little Russian' is considered as a derogatory name for Ukraine. Which doesn't change the fact that it is a wonderful piece of music and absolutely nothing to do with the war.
Having said that, I agree with Greg that it is understandable for Lincoln City to refrain from playing the Dambusters theme during such a violent and tragic conflict. Bad taste is not something to be banned in itself, but I understand why a fotball club would not want to be playing war-theme music at this time.

You don't think that the terrible war suffering in Ukraine might open Lincoln to accusations of bad taste in broadcasting a theme tune that glorifies war, eh, MC? And sirens, too? Well, coming from such a 'source', as you like to put it, I don't suppose you do. From a fully signed-up member of the 'woke brigade'. And proud to be so. And what other examples of football going 'woke' did you have in mind, pray? Anyway, here's a link to the BBC's story, to let people make up their own minds https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-60938930

Obviously, the degree and time involved become relevant. Age
itself alters the metabolism and affects the rate of tissue loss
as we move through the later years. But it's always sensible to
get the equivalent of an MoT on the physical mechanics, Needless worry is as debilitating as any illness and prevention
in both is always best policy.. Good health!!

Hi Rasa. Great story type poem that you have put a lot of effort in to compose it, but after my reading of it I can say it was well worth the effort. Hope Frank gets on the mend asap which with people like you around him, I'm more than sure he will.
Why not get him into putting his feelings into a poem of his own?
there's nothing more therapeutic!
Cheers and good luck!

Many thanks for your kind reaction, Ursula and John. Yes, Ursula, the death of someone close, however long expected, as always a sudden break and how wonderful it would be to be able to contact them one last time to clear some things up. One always tries to remember them as they were and not, as you say, John, as they had become.
