One thing is for sure. Half of America voted for this moron, having already seen what a total fool he was when in power the first time. To that end half of America deserve what is coming their way. As for Trump, I think he'll spend the next few years looking over his shoulder and so he should!

isn't it that question that separates us from the rest, the quest to understand ourselves? Whereas some have a very distinct awareness of self others do not. Who is right and who is wrong, another question!!

A very beautiful, profound poem, Naomi! I really loved the lines
"Who am I, but a past unfolding in the future" and
"Who am I, but a traveler in the desert
Jotting survival tactics in the sand— "

Keep your temper in check,
Otherwise, you will break.
When darkness is around
Try not to be bound.
Keep your temper in check,
You don't have a brain lack.
You can do it, You are strong.
You will see who was wrong.
Get a grip.
Your feelings are deep.
A false friend will disappear,
A real friend will appear.
There will be a new day,
You'll go your own way.
Get cool. Find the right tool.
The weak are there at the bottom.
The strong are with the wisdom.
Take it easy!
You have to be always busy.
Anything can happen at any time.
Anything can happen at any clime.
Get together in any weather.
Just a bit more, a bit more.
The joy will come as before.
And do not howl at the moon.
The happiness will be soon.

So true Rolph. My sincerest apologies. I was chewed out on another site for this LOL 😂 Really, it was a tough call, haiku/senryu being what it is. I’m putting it down to readership settings and calibration. And when was Japan ever easy to piece together, even on the best scholarship, right? So I thank you and all that waded through this and even tulipped this post, from the depths of my heart 🌷🌷🌷

Stuff daytime TV Stephen, that's brainrot gear for sure.
Artificial intelligence? Real stupidity more like!
Today, at the supermarket, I was at one of those self-checkouts with a screen that had a picture of me staring back at myself.
It couldn't decide whether I was a desperate teenager with a drink problem, who was a master of disguise, or a genuinely grizzly bearded overweight old git in his 70's.
I felt sorry for the Asian assistant who was forced (rules is rules) to ask me in his best Lancashire twang: are you over 25?
Bloody Norah, what's the world coming to?😕

Thank you Stephen.
These are, I fear dark times, which threaten the future of our loved ones.
We are faced with a stark choice: either we unite with courage against these false prophets who sell us snake oil via their client sewer media, or the most vulnerable in society, who stand to lose the most, will suffer the effects of a rampant totalitarianism which we thought we had defeated during the struggles of the last hundred or so years.

" As every false connivance is reversed"
I am willing you to be right and I envy your optimism but I cannot shake off this feeling of dread. it will take time to reverse the damage that he will undoubtedly do. His decisions will all be based on increasing his hold on power and many people are set to suffer before he is brought to heel. Remember how he separated children from their parents and kept them in a communal cage? he is a monster.

disturbing - heartbreaking.
What will the 'Trump effect' have to offer in global terms? catastrophe?
Anyone who sucks up to him seeking money and power is only doing it for personal gain, no one in their right mind can possibly think that he is a force for good. There are no winners here.

Hello Red Brick Keshner,
I truly enjoyed your poem "wide road of the exterior." The references to Japanese historical figures and cultural elements were fascinating, though I must admit, it wasn’t easy to piece together the stories behind them. The way you interwove figures like Yoshitsune, Benkei, and Basho, along with the references to seppuku and the landscapes of Japan, added a rich layer of depth to the piece. It’s clear that your work requires a thoughtful engagement with history and culture, which I really appreciated. Thank you for this evocative poem.
Regards,
Rolph

Dear Nigel,
I just read your poem "Charcoal City" and was deeply moved (inside smothering grief") by its powerful imagery (roadrunner "ablaze"). The way you capture the relentless nature of wildfires (in L.A.?) and the emotional aftermath is striking. It's a poignant reflection on the impact of these disasters. Thank you for sharing this evocative piece.
Best regards,
Rolph

Dear Flyntland,
I just read your poem "AT EASE WITH SIMPLICITY (re-edited)" and I want to thank you for sharing such a grounded piece. The way you express contentment with the simplicity of life and your connection to the earth is truly inspiring. I especially loved the final "indented line"—it felt like a quiet, powerful declaration of peace and unity. It's such a special touch, unique to your style, and it perfectly encapsulates the essence of your poem. Thank you for this thought-provoking reflection.
Regards,
Rolph

Hello Stephen,
It’s quite possible that he uses the cold, (for Washington winter conditions it is relatively warm) as evidence that global warming doesn’t exist. He’s probably afraid of falling victim to another fake assassination attempt or facing even emptier streets than in 2017. Who knows... I don’t believe it’s the 2 degrees below zero that have shifted everything inward. And the cold will certainly do no harm to his penis size. 😉

Rolph

Dear Hugh,
Thank you for sharing this delightful piece! The originality of your humour is truly impressive. Turning the death of a mole and a cat into such a comedic moment is no easy feat, and the unexpected twist with Fred’s explanation had me laughing out loud. Your wit is truly one of a kind—keep up the fantastic work!
