Hi loved your "Perfect Place".....perfect in its combination of senstivity, intuitive warmth and intelligence. thanks for your comments on "Questions for the Barrister" the real subject was known as 'the rottweiler on speed' he was an absolute nightmare of a character with no conscience. Met him ....horrid man!

Very good - and good to hear them voiced too. I would like a quick word with you about your voice sometime - if that's all right with you - perhaps you could catch me online sometime & we could 'chat'?- either here or on facebook. But again, very well observed, good work.

I've done jury service before, so can remember this experience alright! In relation to the poem I thought it was a thoughtful and well judged poem! Well Done!

I thought too it was a little bit different to some of the stuff I have heard you deliver before, but I like it.. I like particular the reference to Peter Pan in it and I think you have a particularly strong ending in it too!

Dear Sian,
Thank you ever so much for your comments on 'Howling Hollow'
I have just read your poem 'one step behind' and Iike the way it deals with change, i like the arrangement and I like the way you put 'the gaining...the poise'
one step behind someone, as you say a shadow. The submissive quality leaves you wanted to get level, someone you admire(d) is ahead, as though they are superior
I like this whole concept
Peter.

Hi Mike, i can do quiet, if you browse around i have plenty of quiter poems recorded and posted on here.
I'm really happy you like this, I've read your poems and they are extremely intense and powerful, it is clear from your writing that you have a direct and vivid connection with your life changing experiences of the past. Haunting and poetic.
thank you for your comments on this poem, which I very cautiously posted as its a little off track for me.

Fantastic. The city a bit rough these days. Those that dwell within more than often is not long for the hints of better places. This one genius.

Hello Peter, I am wondering how you would deliver this poem in a reading. I know your style of delivery, and I'm trying to imagine you reciting this one in more muted tones than you normally do. It works. I like it, even felt a personal message there about letting go of the past to let in the new. Hard to do when the past makes you what you are. This poem touched me, gave me moments in quiet reflection. Nice one.

Nice and concise poem.
I suppose they would say they are just doing their job. Once home, they can leave it behind.
Pity more of us can't do the same really as long as we can say in all honesty we did our best we should all be able to sleep at night.

Thank you both. When I read this at a recent Write Out Loud gig I introduced it as a poem for children because of the simplicity of the language. I had in mind the work of Hillaire Belloc or Spike Milligan.

Dear Simon,
I liked this poem, mostly because it reaches a wide audience, and as a writers' we can empathise with your plight. I ;live in Japan at the moment, and I see things that take me by surprise alot of the time, and I think, dam you woman where is your bloody pen when you need it!! But now I always take a pen and pad out with me, it more often than not, when a feeling arises or I see something, it's when I forgot :)

funnily enough I was in Tescos earlier partaking of this very activity and feeling very 'drawn in' to the whole commercial idea to buy a card to say "I love you" concept. It's subtle blackmail really isn't it.
Loved your poem.

You are right Deborah, love is madness; but what can you buy in Tesco -can you buy love ?Some people think you can, and look where that's got us -the worst depression in a hundred years- or so a (Labour) government spokesman tells us.

thanks for your comment on my profile page.
Welcome to wol and hope you enjoy it here.

I think all poets and writers include some of their own experiences into their work. It might not be intentional but it's always there. It's part of life.

very good Mike...Stranger...was gripped by the first couple of lines..."head dipped in sorrow" , fantastic image I must say. Thanks for your comments by the way. Yes my work..if i can call it that, is sometimes mundane sometimes dark and I never seem to know what's coming next. To be honest I have no idea what style I have but I do know what I like to read and "Stranger" was particularly striking

Hi Sian, This poem really struck me. I feel it is a lot more in touch with your true feelings than perhaps Hot Chocolate. I really like it, and I know one or two people that this poem would strike a nerve with. Strike a nerve, there's a thought, always remember, YOU, are in control. But I really wonder, what would happen if you really did lose control. hmmmm! Nice one.

Yes indeed I agree with Michael, I felt the poem most keenly especially the 'pull and push' of past verses future, the urge to keep holding on to what has been but knowing that if you do there will be ...as you say "no room to grow".
Love the style of this one, personally I don't think it matters whether you keep to a particular way of writing ....you're good anyway and that shines through.
thanks for your comments re my piece, this was actually inspired by my daughter so it was interesting to read your interpretation.
