Appeal to the 'Bar'

Do you always have to speak that way?

With heartless grit between the teeth...

and masking what you really feel,

you speak a lie then make it truth.

Why does it seem that what you wear

is starched and neat, all shiny black?

Is it to show that you are clean...

above reproach, beyond attack?

How can you live to fight again?

When battle scarred I leave the site

and dazed, confused I mill about,

whilst you go home and sleep all night.

The first piece of work that I have read on here (just signed up) and encouraged by your quality. By the way hello! Graham

This works on more than one level. (Hoo-rah). From the legal perspective and a more intimate, personal level. Like a failed relationship with a particular person. A married person, perhaps?

I've done jury service before, so can remember this experience alright! In relation to the poem I thought it was a thoughtful and well judged poem! Well Done!

Nice and concise poem.
I suppose they would say they are just doing their job. Once home, they can leave it behind.
Pity more of us can't do the same really as long as we can say in all honesty we did our best we should all be able to sleep at night.

Nice one Sian. I hope your not leaving the site. There seems to be some angst in life atm. I think it is sometimes reflected in here too. I wish I could sleep too. Mike

Hi Sian
For those who have been to this dreadful place your words will hit hard. Powerful poem.
