Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

Chester Zoo

7,000 animals they said.

6,000 of them jackdaws, mice

and sparrows getting the best

free handout in Cheshire.

800 were people collecting

the rip off entry charge,

begging for donations on top,

selling over priced, crap souvenirs

and peddling junk food.

One was the tiger sleeping

in his shed.

Blinking through his torpor

at the camera flashes

from the milling horde

excited to see an animal.

Sixteen were the huge fish

whose mouths were the only

movement in the tiny tank.

7,000 animals.

Only 6,800 of them

were parasites.

Very good - and good to hear them voiced too. I would like a quick word with you about your voice sometime - if that's all right with you - perhaps you could catch me online sometime & we could 'chat'?- either here or on facebook. But again, very well observed, good work.

Despite tearing down fond memories of my youth, you are, as usual, spot on. When I was there last though, I did see a jaguar half heartedly stalking a black headed gull.

Mr Malpoet - this is a wonderful piece from the nib of a Mount Blanc cynic. It's all so, so true.
I believe that Knowsley Safari Park is just as bad. £20 or so for driving through open (another word for 'empty' ) fields.
