I love that your poem blends perfectly with the accompanying picture.
I am a great fan of monochrome having being brought in a monochrome world, when the only colour we had as a kid was at the cinema and some early bad colour photography.
A marvellous portrayal from the opening lines of repeated wording right through to the end.
Wonderful

Apocalyptic beauty and horror go together with this Stu. I'm thinking of War of the Worlds, but at least with that there was a happy ending and a lesson learned. These dogs are like originals, not the pampered pooches we see in peacetime. That crackling simile is just great!

Nice to see full on Stu.

dk are you suggesting a
Reserve that's woman-free?
Not sure how that would go down
With this still-virile me

Picture all the women
Poets wanting in
Drooling at the boundary
Getting high on vin

I'm mucking up your poem
Given Keith a boot
Think I should just drift away
..............?

Don Good photo
Governments all over the world are ignoring the stark warnings held within poems and videos like these.

Why? dare I suggest that they (Governments) are not in control -business is,
and dareI I suggest that, Trump like, some members of 'Government' have a lot to gain.

Or am I just cynically spreading 'fake news'

Dorothy

As an old poet approaching extinction I support the idea of a reserve in a place of tranquility where we can hang up our pens as we are called by the great poet in the sky to a place of eternal verse. However, in the meantime I would appreciate that the reserve has a constant supply of best bitter and pickled eggs with potato crisps for purposes of inspiration.

A good idea
Thanks
Keith

Charlie
I have read your comment - and re-read your poem and now i understand it so much better.

Think along different lines - be proud of being a bit of a rebel and of who you are, it means that you are not ordinary.

Be proud of both sides of your heritage - one side at least - is ancient, you are part of a culture that is world wide, be proud of that aspect.
Choose who you want to be, research your distant past and relate to that and not to present day iinterpretations which may not be authentic.
Good luck
Dorothy

p.s. keep writing you torment gives us more to think about.

Thank you for this series of poems which, I believe, addresses what many people are now engaged in. A sort of reappraisal of one´s life and the direction it is taking and the need to apply the breaks, to stand back and get a clearer persepctive. As free thinkers we often stop in our tracks to take stock of the world about us and our future role in it.

Thank you indeed for this

Keith

Rachel, yes this is frightening, but only for the part of me (huge part of me) that wants to go with the flow and be part of the tribe. However, I would hate to some day look back on my life and see only the highway - especially the 21st century highway in the western world. I need to explore some of those scary cracks and crevices. Having said that, here I am in my nice cosy house, rain lashing the window panes and still in my pyjamas- not so adventurous!

Hi Hazel & Dorothy,
Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
It's about my experiences not conforming to societal norms from my dual heritage, something I have struggled a lot with in the past & which I look back at with some anger now but I would agree there is a sadness to it, a sadness of the 'other' I suppose.

David
I have read your comment - pinched myself - and re read it - and I am ----- welll I don't know what I am - very grateful will be a good start but it is not enough.
This blog has been very good to me and for me, the people that I have 'met' are quite unlike anyone that I have ever 'met' before.

Each poet has introduced me to a world that is very different from mine,
I have read poems that have blown me away and some that I have giggled over but all have made me think along different lines.

Thank you David and thank you WoL.
