Gritting my teeth, I can begin to admit
I have been struggling
In the first half of this year
I got bruised by my own undoing
Whittled so brittle
On cold spring afternoons
And you have been a salve
The gentle warmth of a grounded voice
Through cheap headphones
Brimming with sweet greetings
Quick with earthy encouragements
Easing me down cracked pavements

Ghost
You disappeared without a trace.
For years I didn’t see your face.
I believed the lies,
that you died.
Maybe you did,
on the inside.
Your essence never went away.
Behind me, beside me, within me
night and day.
You haunt me.
That’s the way I want it to be.
Love is a mystery.

Ghosting
He ghosted me,
then I ghosted too.
Maybe ghosting
spreads like the flu.
Leaves the ghosted
feeling sick and blue
when a loved one
suddenly starts ignoring you.
You haven't a clue
what to do.
So, you stay in bed,
with the covers over your head
wishing you were dead
so you can get some relief
from the ghosting disease.
