Thanks Martin

An insomniac overthinker is one of my alter egos - I have a pretty insistent internal monologue that loves to get hooked up on the little things and run through them over and over and over…….. as I’m sure we’ve all experienced at some point in our life!

Thanks for reading, and thanks for the feedback. Always appreciated.

Speaking from a perspective that seeks to prevent these tragic
incidents from occurring, it depresses me that there is trite
stuff about stopping it happening whilst failing to discuss
how and why it does! Sadly, there's nothing new in this sort of
activity. I recall that back in "my day" a policewoman acted
as a decoy to catch a man who preyed on women alone in
vulnerable locations. She was attacked and fought back, but
injured before the nearest "aid" could reach the scene - no
doubt carefully chosen by her assailant who was caught.
trying to escape. The mix of location. time and predator/prey situation that existed were all too recognisable. Prevention
takes various forms, not least the realisation that danger
EXISTS out there. My niece carries a device with a piercing
"shriek" to it - one step towards accepting that risk needs
to be understood and confronted. There has been talk
about the police doing more to protect women. So easy to
say, isn't it?. But don't wait for the "how" to follow! Because
it won't !

I was taking the piss of myself a bit with this one.
I went to a job last week, and try as I may I couldn't get my flask lid back on. I thought, if anyone is watching they won't trust me to do the job.
Hope you got your plumbing sorted Keith, and your car sold M.C

Entertaining and SO close to reality!
I wonder just how many are mentally suited to being in ANY line
of business. Last Friday saw a failed appearance (without notice
OR reply to my text enquiry) by a would-be car buyer (TRADE)
when I had driven forty miles to be available for his attendance.
And nothing since!!

Thank you for the kind comments, I am fine but we received some terrible news this week, the sudden loss of our nephew, It was such a shock. I am also away at the moment and although my view is of blue skies and sunshine my head is in a totally different place. I am not sure I will ever be able to find the right words to write about this time, hence the need for a break. Thanks again for your lovely messages. Jx

This may be a re-post. I'm not sure if I've posted it on here previously or not.
This was the first poem that I ever wrote, and it amuses me to think that after writing poetry for 5 or 6 years now I haven't got any better.

It always seems to come as a surprise when the nights draw in, and leaves curl and turn brown.
The last line of this explains that it's just part of a natural cycle.
I liked that the birds flapped us an "au revoir" before heading south. The ones around us chirp "I'll sithee" before buggering off.

Thanks you Aisha, Stephen and Holden for following and liking!

Nice to get your comment Keith. It was quite deliberately that I drew a parallel with sexual congress, that's fine! Some love their machines and there will be overlaps, albeit usually subconscious.
Glad you enjoyed. I've just resumed going out on the bike and spent quite a lot in tarting it up , as it were!

Thanks Graham, I wanted to prove I could still perform (on the bike) and I did feel very involved and a sense of freedom. Great all round, though a bit knackering.
