A New Horizon must Dawn

I no longer live in the world I grew up in

The old guidelines and differences are blurred

Certainties have been replaced with chaos

I feel cut adrift from my reality and am permanently confused

A steadfast sense of security has given way to apprehension and fear

I no longer wish to engage only to retreat

Before my eyes history tragically repeats itself

The planet seems beyond repair

Wars and rumours of war abound

Where can one turn to embrace the truth?

Politicians are no longer to be trusted nor ever were

People refuse to respect each other's differences

They are prepared to kill one another at the drop of a hat

I have no desire or wish to be here

Someone somewhere must be able to offer salvation

A new or historical figure must emerge to restore the purpose of creation

We cannot endure this continuation of repeating ourselves

and being duped

Come soon or we are all doomed

Thank you for all the likes as they are much appreciated. Thank you to Flyntland, Ghazala and Graham for their valuable comments. Ghazala we are promised the second coming of Christ at the end of time and many believe that we are living in those end times here and now. I also believe this. Graham thank you for your words of wisdom as I too am increasingly of the opinion that it is better to sit back and let it all happen as in reality I cannot change an iota.

You’re thinking for us all Keith. As we age we gradually lose the tempo of the world we live in and hand progress on to the next generation. I remember my father who died too young speaking in the same way to me, his son who was forging ahead with job and family in a new technological world. I now feel like he did. I now take a more Zen approach to life. I couldn’t fix it even if I had the chance. We’ve spent our time Keith! Sit back, relax, smile, shake you head and say whatever next! There’s no new Messiah. Write about your life for others who come after. Breathe!

I think you are speaking for all of us 'oldies' - in a nutshell, who can we trust? where can we turn to regain a sense of security?
Your last line is not exaggerated. I shall retreat behind our tall trees - shut the front door - and turn to my laptop.
