Thank you for the offer but alas, i can't fly anywhere, they took my passport and won't let me back into the country if i leave it, because i smuggle good looking Turkish people inside rugs..Debz xx

Bowing to pressure from the masses I award WOLOP to Gus Jonsson - a very worthy poet,
I should point out that any comments placed after poems are quotes from the people who voted.
I personally, would love John Darwin to explain his Melt poem - I never saw anything chilling at the end....

Wonderful, elegant...
Oh that I was able
to fly on such a rug
woven strands of anglelwing
Oh come and weave your magic
and
fly away with me. GJ
Debz this is a fabulous, fabulous poem...

Interesting how the descriptions of things stopping
as you ponder what they told you 'again' are so vivid...
Sometimes to avoid the pain, we only hear what we want to hear.
Très bien Andy N : )

Hi Andy. your 'everything stop' approach has the great effect of leaving things hanging before the hammer blow. Yes... life can be crap. Enjoyed this one. Winston

I like the way you appeal to the senses Andy and leave the reader to form their own conclusions...also like the image of the strike - everything being knocked down...

Andy I like in particular:
Tortoise on speed..great image, immediate and the pounding emphatic 'stop!'
You capture the rupturing pain of finality

Hi Cynthia
Thanks as ever for your comment. I agree about verdicts, but we'll never stop people judging each other, thus the (realistic?) plea for gentleness rather than stopping altogether. We can hope

Hi Cynthia
When I said your comment was intriguing, this was because a couple of readers had misunderstood where the poem was coming from, which is why I added the explanation at the top.
I thought you had read it first time round, but had become better informed after seeing the explanation of who was speaking.
I think what I've just written makes sense, but I wouldn't bank on it. If it does - great, if it doesn't let me know, and I'll have another go.
xx Steve xx

I didn't intend to be obscure. I meant that you have, by speaking through your wife's voice, very lucidly and poignantly captured the courage of living with an incurable and declining illness. I now understand better such an experience.

Thanks for reading and commenting on my work John. I had a good night at Wicked Words last week, my cough had gone and I managed to get three good ones out without any fuss, the crowd were happy so that's a decent yardstick.

Hi Steve, no offence taken at all. I don't get particularly nervous (although I may seem it) I just love drinking! Bobby Dylan is a fine poem, I love the humour in it, you may have heard me guffawing a couple of times during your performance, and I was sober (ish) at the time. You delivery is so calm too. I hope you are enjoying the whole thing as I'm sure you are.

Only joshing John. Hope your travel was ok this time.
Nerves are a bummer, as I know only too well, but I like your 'performance' au natural so to speak. It's got a nice roll to it that may be spoilt by amplification.

Thanks for your comment,Cynthia.
Jesus was supposed to be the Creator's son...crucified? Why was Jesus God crucified?I have studied Theology and was raised to read the Bible every day. In the Old Testament of the Bible a perfect animal was sacrificed for the forgiveness of sin. Jesus was sent by God as the final perfect sacrifice to be killed and stands as a mediator for us to pray to God the Father ..as according to the Bible.
Comment is about CHRISTMAS (blog)
Sounds good to me. I respect the global spirit of Christmas totally. Thanks for such a fine thought.
A lot of people were commonly crucified in those days, only one of the innumerable terrible ways of physically killing people over the ages, methods which have been designed by humans.
