Couldn't think of anything contrary to say about buddhists - they seem like nice peaceable people - though that could just be my lack of knowledge. Having said that the majority of all races and religions are nice and peaceable - it is just the tiniest minority...and the fact that religion and politics divide us so...
Have no idea why that backward slash has appeared in the title - it won't let me edit it out...
Someone suggested that I should blog this and I obliged since it is my favourite. Apologies if you have heard or read it before on my profile page.
I think our comments crossed Chris - thank you for that - it is one of those poems that mean a lot to me and the first one I wrote when joining the site so it means a lot to have it appreciated by others.

Thanks for the comment Beulah. What a shame you don't live up North - you would be most welcome. Have only just found out that you are female - your name sounds a bit adrogynous - I always assume people are male and your poetry dosn't give anything away. Used to live around London myself some time ago. Have plenty of friends down there - perhaps I'll make some of the poetry venues one of these days...
Thanks again. Isobel x

And we, the artists the poets etc know that they all know nothing. That's why they like to silence truth, any truth that does not fall in with their ideology. ah all truth then?
love to you and thanks for YOUR comments over at mine. Still waiting for the xmas dinner offer. meantime keep writing, inging and smiling. It f- ups the negatons.

Some battles require a fight some require retrete if we are eventually to win, That seems the topic here. We all have our own battles in our own lives... I think many people will relate to this excellent piece in their own way.

Love the ideas within this.'When you know my art, you begin to know me'. How true is that? How and what we express says so much about us all. In fact I think many of us bare our souls here on WOL, in a way that we would never do in day to day conversation....
I guess you are going on to say much more than that. Art can become too pretentious and up itself as can some artists. Can art exist outside of representation? I'm not sure - I'm not enough of an expert on all forms of art. Just know what I like in poetry - things that move me in a none mushy or over sentimental way - I guess that springs from life....I like your poem.

Thank you for your comment on Coming Home and also Alfie. I might just take Chris Co up on his suggestion and blog the latter - it is my favourite and has a lot to say.
Coming Home was about a failed emigration, marriage and life... Having read through it again, I can see that it works just as well for a soldier coming home to family - particularly if he questions the validity of the war he fought in and why he fought for so long. I am really glad that the poem works on so many levels. Thanks for the time you took to read it. I am now going to comment on your latest. I hope you won't see this as tit for tat - I had already scan read it and agree so much with the sentiments in it - I just find the number of blogs going up overwhelming sometimes - impossible to keep up. xx

I don't have an imagination. Oh Gus Gus. I do not create I merely script! Cell phones to ears, not talking cell phones or cell phones ears to hand. Surely. Oh Gus Gus I think you did this deliberately! in glove? Rushing.....roaring?
I never rewrite or change; that is beyond critique that is critical! I shall now go, and you can deal with your frustration brought on by the 'antisipation' of the awaited surge. Me, I await no surge. I edit your thoughts. What is the definition of edit in a literary sense, of course? Did you edit? You critique you.

Great poem, Gemma. The repetition captures the disconnectedness you clearly feel very well. I was directed to your poetry by David Bradley, as I write stuff here on Asperger's Syndrome which is similar to what you're describing here. Your poem was very enjoyable to read. Good work!

But where and will I like it when I get there? Too often it feels like a garden path...That kind of reminds me of some Diana Ross lyrics - there is a song for every occasion. Petrograd is a Russian version of Petersburg. It was renamed when Russia entered the First World war.. We didn’t want anything sounds German and Petersburg is a German name, burg- city. Bolsheviki can burn in hell as much as I care.. Ask me why and I tell you a point of view of a Russian historian who lived thorough the Soviet era..

Hi Steve,
I really loved your performance on Thursday night, very composed and with such intent. I particularly liked the poem - Signs. I think this is because I find it much easier to connect with shorter pieces and that i find short poems so much more powerful, fewer words, but saying so much more.
I think that my favourite lines in signs are; serves up all the desserts I have ever loved, this is magic.
Also like, buying herself time to figure out.
The poem says so much, and I think it's one of my favourite poems of yours.
Wonderful
Belinda
