Another cracker C. You must have superb editorial skills...you never post a poor one!

For me...'If you can expound cause and effect, you do not understand at all' has particular resonance...and the last three lines...just, Wow!

Thank you.

Ann, never saw it; thanks much. That made a nasty bump on the log. Don't know where the 's' went. Corrected to 'Is'. Also, 'scratchings and cacklings' are 'Writing and talking' ad infinitum about 'what love is', always in the subjective mode naturally.
Thanks, too, Starlight.

derrr..i'm confused..logic escapes me..but i don't like rules except the ones that work like; 'keep away from the edge of the platform fast train approaching.' or 'keep away from small children' although freedom of choice should be a rule as well.but that's probably what you just said...i'll get me coat..

I don't know if a poem has to be aimed at anyone. On the one hand I guess the point of a poem is to communicate, and that implies it does have to find someone to communicate with, but also, a poem can just BE. I see this poem as a tribute to someone who has died, and a comment on the pointlessness of that death, not a lecture to all the youths who carry knives, who, as is the point you are making Rodney (I think), will never read this poem.

Hi Isobel, really enjoyed this, great work, the travel theme is like my latest romatic poem (train in piccadilly though not a plane!), appreciate you having a gander if you havent already.

Drought over
Rain clouds burst
For all that was lost now found
For all that was and will be…

Marvellous Isobel, see you at Wigan Jeff X

Oh well, I just wish they would only start it all in december and not august! You should read my 'Do they know its christamas poem - think its in my dec 08 blogs, happy new year! Jeff X

Hi Mike, I am not as frequently on here as I'd like, so I was not familiar with your poetry until you just left a comment on 'Patience'.

I am highly impressed with the sensitivity and depth in your work - especially this piece. There is a subtle undercurrent to this work that speaks louder than the words themselves.

Excellent work.

Thank you Anthony and John - comments like those make it so worth while. I love John's description of how Marianne's poetry makes him feel - that sounds a lot like love to me - she isn't the inspiration for your drenched poem by any chance? tee hee. Despite all our maligning of WOL, there are some wonderful poets on here. I am hopeful that WOLOP popularity will spread a little, as people start to enjoy the benefits of it themselves. Hi Rodney

Thanks for your kind comments for the poem 'The First Kiss'. Take your point about 'not being sure the songs having solos to die for'. I had to think of some (popular) songs that clearly had Harmonica solos in them.

Thanks for reading.

I can identify with this Cynthia, and it reminds me of my Eyelash poem. I just love the line "but not necessarily unsatisfying"! I don't understand what the scratchings and cacklings of prsumptive opinion are, the rest I love. But in line 9 did you mean to put I'm not rather than I not?

Congratulations to Marianne and Augusta. I have tried to explain how I feel when I read Marianne Daniels' poetry. The nearest I can come is to say it feels like laughing and crying at the same time while being at the point of falling off a very high stool. I hope Ms Daniels realises this is a compliment :-)
