This reminded me of a life-changing walk that I had with my father years ago, where he had told me about how grateful we should be to mother earth for this life, and that we need to contribute to her and be grounded as much as we can.
I loved the whole poem, mainly the ending lines.
Thank you, HĂŠlène!đ

I stand humbly corrected.
I can only say that I was brung up reading The Grudian, which has tainted my life, spelling and understanding of a greta deal

As I said, Steve, 'Kier' or Keir' is a small point, but as an old sub-editor, I have to point these things out. And to mention, too, that yes, I am still a southerner, but have been living up north for the past year. The locals are quite friendly where we are!

I've observed elsewhere that all art is derivative. Its source is
another matter entirely! But this contributor has an uncanny knack for sending an unerring arrow in its direction. Hurrah!

How do you know for sure that it was 'Sir Kier Starmer'?
Were you in an adjoining stall?

Your comment on 'Kier' is gratefully accepted.
I don't get along to poetry venues very often, and this takes about 10 minutes to do, which doesn't go down well with those who run venues.
C'est la vie

Up North, we don't recognise Knighthoods, unless they were earned down't pit, and anyway Greg, how do you know that it actually was Sir Kier Starmer?
Were you in one of the other stalls?

I'm sorry to report, Stephen, that the War poem is based on a true statement told to me by a close friend (the nurse who experienced this is my friend's cousin). So heartbreaking, our human capacity to create conditions that result in us wounding/killing each other, physically and emotionally, throughout all of recorded history. Perhaps these sorrowful mysteries will make more sense on the other side of life (post death).

My point entirely; innocent babies, men and women, whose deaths could have been avoided had gutless politicians with vested interests (at least one in the UK ) had spoken out.

I like the careful construction of this, JD. And it is subtle, because we can, if we are honest, all see elements of ourselves and of family and friends in the description. Happily most of us fall somewhere towards the middle and survive happily, warts and all.

I'm told our little scamp of a 4 yr old woke the other morning at 5 am, and not content with playing with her own teddy, went into mum and dads' room, took mummy's teddy off her, causing a liitle "disagreement "which woke her poor dad up.

Uilleam at least others posting prose, rhetoric, statements, and stories about cricket, football and rugby make a nod towards poetry!
Comment is about The Big Lie (blog)
Thank you Graham:
Prose, rhetoric, statement, stories call them what you will, are frequently posted by other contributors.
However, I consider my knuckles well and truly rapped, and will in future refrain from being a tree-hugging, bleeding-heart looney-lefty, and will emulate others, confining my effort to posting prose, rhetoric, statements, and stories about cricket, football and rugby, of which sadly, I know bugger all.
Comment is about The Big Lie (blog)
Did you mean to post this on a political site Uilleam? For the life of me I cannot see any poetry in this 'statement' cum Q&A?
Can you really not find a more suitable place for this rhetoric?
