Failed Responsibilities

They are your gardians, they are your motivators, they are your protectors, they are your teachers

They are supposed to guide you through your young life, to help you achieve your goals

They are supposed to give you hope and encourage you to reach your dreams, to help you go far

They are supposed to watch out for you when you are weak and innocent, to help keep pain from touching you

Troublesome Organ

Tha-thumb… Tha-thump… Tha-thump

Over and over again. This rhythmic beating brings life to your body

Thrashing in your chest, it hurts of all your heart ache

It tumbles into your gut, making you feel nauseous and insure

You gag and it scurries up to your throat, making each breath a struggle, forcing you to gasp for air

It invades your skull, pulsing…attempting to get out. Each time ...

Outrun the Demons

Faster...Faster...Don't stop...Don't let them catch you...

Pedal faster, fast enough so that the tears never touch your cheeks, fast enough so that the little droplets that sparkle in the moon light disappear behind you, into the darkness to slow down the horrid thoughts that chase you

Pedal faster...fast enough so that you out run your own mind

Pedal faster...fast enough so that there is...

Doubt

It moves like a cockroach in my mind

It spreads filth, it eats at me, makes me shiver with fear and disgust

I want to let it out...

I want someone to take the burden from my mind

...but...I could never ask that of someone

...I could never place this upon someone I loved,

but I could never trust someone I didn't

So this is mine...a constant fire that longs for fresh air but sta...

I Need You

Hold me as if I was weightless, take gravity's hands off my shoulders and just hold me for awhile

Shut out the rest of the world and give me a moment of peace

Rock me back and forth in your waters

Slow down time, slow my movements, slow the sounds that reach my ears

Wash me, clean me of all the filth I have picked up from the despicable deeds I have committed

Sing me a lullaby from ...

The Sweetest Lies

Being serenaded by an inanimate object… does this make me crazy?

Its call runs shivers of desire through me

My fingers long to caress its cold surface

My flesh pulses with the need to be kissed by it

This is my vice, this is my secret, this is my addiction

It has tasted my flesh before

It has licked and kissed and bitten the dark meat of my arms many times

But it wants new fla...

Veil of Words

Letters are so very innocent

Meerly our pawns in the grand scheme of things

They have no ill intent, no feeling of love, no rule as to which emotion the shall portray

Alone they are meaningless

We have the power to take these lost souls and form them into threads of words

Those seemingly random letters are no longer a raw material

They now have meaning, but yet they are still los...

Summer Dress

Fluttering slowly past
A flicker of light, of technicolour
Paradise through a rainbow lens
Dust floats still in the eye of the sun
The laughing, trickling waterfall
In the corner - the fountain, the wine and food
Spinning slowly in a dream
That became reality
These flowers, these patterns, swirl upon memory
Strung out throughout the mind
A show of lights inside our heads
The fabric soft...

Interior/Secret

Enter

Walk, stairs, climb

Wooden surface, polish, shine, steel

Under cupboards, open, sacrificed

Golden heat, radiates, outside

A blank page, void, universal

Nature’s eyes, peering in

Beds, rows and lines, carved, unfocused

Spiral arrangements, bric-a-brac rooms

Scattered sequins, secret, special

Threadbare, lifeless, needless

No waste

No special limits

Water...

Crash Survivor's Log

Folds in free-fall

Reaching out and over

Etched into the serrated edge

Envy cordoned into plastic packets.

Zones in the atmosphere, cold, moderate

Igneous paradigm, fortune corroded

Neo-polemic, butchered and stolen

Gangrene outlived, shaped then broken.

Water trickles from the heights

Acres of snow held gifts for giving

Silent plateaus, hands unwilling

A Room, Midnight

One eye pierces the shard
The mirror fragment on the wall
The silver light, a fraction reflected
The iris a dagger, flecked with scarlet.

One stain remains unforgotten
The one of dishonour, an imprint
A blemish reflected on the cupboard door
On the lifeless, cracked wormwood.

Flotilla (Epiphany of the Escapee)

Spotlight on the leafy corner

He fell and crashed down there,

From the schizoid heights, poor soul

Anathema to the fields of silver and gold

Now blanketed under nightshade.

I see the black water, churn in half-light

Slipping - the mud combines

Through dense woodland, beyond

Light-years pass - the same old tests

The grip of the old evil

The tortured feel of metal ...

A View to South

One façade through windward gaze

Pebble ridges crashed upon the haze

A mêlée of windows, cracked cement

A winding stair, a telescope distorts

The servant's house, forlorn on the horizon.

The webs of deceit still linger in the corners

The dust-filled tomes still crowd the walls

The endless swathes of grey blue water

Enamel, evermind sheen, a boat lost, at sea

From th...

The Climb

The folly of the climb

Black rocks gaze at the blue light

Shines through crystal glass

A polluted mineral underground

Collapsed with dignity

Under the influence of a memory.

The darkened peace continued

On the banks of our fair hill

A cough heard, a click

As the night brings on a warning

And all is silent

Oh, the folly of the climb.

Alone In Cyberspace

Flying through the green-specked nether

Silent yet screaming

At one with the truth

That brought me here

That shaped and moulded me

Plugged me in, zipped and compressed

Now I find myself surrounded

By blank screens and flashing cursors

Endless rows of burning grey plastic

Heated instruments

Surrounded by darkness.

Immersed in frustration, I stand...

Vex Recedo

We march

In the light of day, that came at the third strike

Patterns of our boots etched in the mud

Like twisted leaves, a vortex in the dawn

Takes our breaths with each step

Harmful red lights glinting

Through the broken foliage, the toxic forest

Leaning in by our sides

It can't be long, I say, can't be too long

Shouts come now, from the front of the line

Steps/Spirals

Through the air and climbing

A mist-bound projectile

Hurtling, defying the atmosphere

Pollution in raindrops, brightening

Traversing ever upward

On this endless marked gaze

The view from the bottom, the tower spire

Stretching

Toward the golden vault

We look and see

The silver beauty

The stone engravings

Blemished with moss, attached and thickening

Way Out By the Rapeseed Field

Way out by the rapeseed field

The bridge and crossing, standing stern

Reflecting in the late afternoon

The breeze lifting the haze adrift.

As the train went past, I saw the light

The endless fading words of honour

Sink or swim in the estuary

As the boughs floated, with the cracked tide.

A grain implanted in the soil

Gone back again to haunt ...

Angry Autumn

Wet, cold, biting musk

Fire, smoke, leaves on the fresh ground

Like soggy bran flakes.

NB: First haiku on here.  I know it's not the season as such, but this one's been kicking around for a while and I'd like to share it.  Cheers.

Castaway

Slow down, it's all going too fast

This comfort, this harmony

Not meant to last.

No permanence whilst days

They keep dropping out

Lying in the barren wastes, the sun shouts.

Beads of sweat forming

Eyes rising out of perpetual hell

Into the technicolour morning.

Lizards and newts crawl beside

My shaken form

As I lie still in the dust.

Earth

Grey landing, smooth - soil shatter

Hidden amongst layers of foliage

Mauve, gold, green - shimmer in twilight

Error made - the interface flashing

Engine three beyond repair

Tin-foil dressage, forest canopy

Haunting dichotomy

Spider webs dissolve on the ground

A network of pathways

The sparse

Lake Song

The bulk of water beneath the grey
Lights in the sky I see
They fade out from view
And only return
When the night pulls the tide.

Cascading down through sleepy thickets
A brush of rain peppers the air
On the dew-soaked stair.

I longed to shatter that haunting image
Of smoke rising beside a lonely road
On a hazy summer’s day long ago.

Talk is cheap and so are they
...

María en la Roca (Sewage Filter)

I saw the face of a woman in the rock

It was etched into the heart of

A tall black cliff and I marvelled

For that face, was yours.

It was head-height, cold, unseeing

At the black water that gushed below

The bile of hell washed from its eyes

Like a solemn sacrifice.

It becomes a prison in my mind, but

I can only see irrelevance where

The ...
