Why do poets ponder
The birds of the air...
For their beauty, their freedom, their song?
Why do they find peace in asking
Questions that begin with why?
Why are they so willing to share
The inner most part of their soul,
Hidden in symbolic mazes
With hedges high?
I guess what I'm really asking
Is why do I?

The Budding Senescent
`
When you reach the forgotten age
like 45, between 40 & 50
you realise that you need someone
by your side to remind you
that it isn't who you're with
but what you feel in your heart
they say life begins at 40
they also say that it's the mid life crisis
for sure you're no longer young
and for sure have not attained seniority eithe...

Bemused Rumination
`
Forget
the balm of barometric exuberance.
This night
no longer young, dissipates.
Recall
the dewy welcome of sun-quaffed green.
Yesterdays
revive severed umbilical dreams.
Peruse
the present with fleeting acumen.
Today
ceases yet emerges again tomorrow.
Ignite
the kindling of autumnal reticence.
Perhaps
genial kindnesses shall spring.
