Picnic By The Kamo River
Wandering slowly down
from Mount Otowa
We’d gotten lost
behind Kiyomizu-dera
in quiet contemplation

to the Kamo River
with crustless sandwiches
cans of iced coffee
and legs in need of rest
Sitting on the ancient path
